Ok, so I'm sure as lots of you know, a few of us got tickets to the 10/7 Wicked to see Julia in her last performance. THEN the NYRP thing was added, which she will probably do being such a big Charity person AND a Bette fan. Now, I live in Maryland so I will be taking the train up to NY. Because of that, I feel kind of iffy about going just to see a particular person, especially in a show that I don't really care for. I dread getting up the Gershwin getting that evil little piece of paper saying I'm seeing Lisa. But I'm going to the UK for a year, so whatever Jules does next isn't an option for me, unless she's taking a European tour. So I took the gamble and purchased the tickets. I figured unless she pulls an Idina and falls through a hole or something, she would do her last day simply because it's her last. But now I'm panicking because she's slated to do 2 performances on 10/7. I'm scared she'll skip the matinee and just do the night show. And enough people on here have seen Lisa instead of Julia, so I don't think I'm too far off the mark in that concern.
Normally, I'd just buy a second ticket to the 8pm and camp out at my favorite hotel in Midtown. But I'm bringing a friend with me and she's a teacher, so she has to be in the classroom on Monday morning. So the 8pm show is out of the question for her.
Here are my options at this point:
1. Go to the 3pm show with my gf and pray she's there. It won't be the real "last", but it's on the same day. Whatever.
2. Keep the 3 pm tickets and try and get a seat for the 8pm show when they go on general release. But if I get tickets for the 8pm show, what do I do about my friend?
3. Try and sell my 3pm tickets and hope I can get one that's just as good by the time I find a buyer. My matinee tickets are for the center orchestra, 5th row, dead center.
4. Sell my tickets and forget the whole thing.
If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm open.
Thanks!
Take a valium dear please.
"Jules"? Oh please.
Hey, I went to see Wicked for Julia Murney, and guess what? She was out that day and I saw Lisa Brescia. And I enjoyed myself.
"I figured unless she pulls an Idina and falls through a hole or something" Thank you for saying that
At least keep the tickets you alread do have. And maybe she will do both shows.
I have tickets to both performances...assuming the 8pm show is Julia Murney's last performance, I am selling the 3pm tickets to a coworker who has never seen the show, but has been dying to see it for a long time. She and her boyfriend will love it, I'm sure, no matter who they see go on as Elphaba.
In your situation, I say just keep the 3pm tickets...you don't want to ditch your friend.
...and by the way, I've seen Lisa Brescia twice as Elphaba and she is fantastic in the role.
"Jules"? Oh please.
Is "Jules" not the common nickname for women named "Julia"?

Guess, what? I've already seen Wicked and I didn't like it!!! LOL. I like Julia. So I won't enjoy myself if she's not there...

So what if it is? Is she your buddy? Although, I suppose, if I wanted to be like you, I can say I did see Lestat with Hughie Panaro and Jack-o Noseworthy, and Deeners Menzel was on when I saw Wicked pre-Broadway.
I don't even like Wicked that much. Julia was the reason I went to the show.

Wow, your attitute is almost as ugly as your icon. It's not that serious. LOL.

ROFL, Drama Queen much, Ry?
Typical theatre people. LOL.
Deeners!
Yes!
I've always found theatre ppl to be very generous. I love them.
People can be so bitchy...I love it!
Me too!

Generous, but with what?
This talk is now much too mature for my ears. I hear no evil.
GAWD. Don't be so uptight, Anna. Or is it Annie? That's a common nickname, right? And I know you well enough.

How dare you accuse me of being a Drama Queen, Midoria!!
...'tis sad but true, though!

Yes, I think this would be less of a problem if I lived in the NY area. I can't go to work and ask if anyone wants my tickets.
Don't worry about my friend. She doesn't really do theatere. She's more of a Pop/R&B concert person. She won't care if tell her the plans got changed. But once we are up there, I have to follow through. And I'd rather sell my ticket to someone on the street and go back home, but that wouldn't be fair for my friend.
I don't see the point in seeing anyone else but Julia Murney, if the only reason I came in the first place is to see her last day. I guess if you like the show, it's cool. But I can't imagine planning months in advance to see someone, riding a train for 4 hours only to find out they're not going on, and being cool with that. *shrug* I'd rather the read the book, when given the choice.
The book is good. Well. The novel. Very good. Weird though. But good.
If *the only* reason you're going is to see Julia Murney, get tickets to the 8pm performance. WICKED has nine performances that week and there is no way Julia is doing all nine shows...she has to miss at least one, and she won't be missing her final performance. You are safe with an October 7th @ 8pm ticket.
Don't be so uptight, Anna. Or is it Annie? That's a common nickname, right?
No, it's Anna!!!! I never call anyone 'Annie', cuz I get this scary picture of Aileen Quinn in my head. *shivers*
I'd call you Lizzie, but alas, you've already done that. Perhaps I can call you Ms. Borden? You seem well acquainted with being, eh, sharp.
No no, Lizzie is only known as Bitch Yoda.
Lizzie. You can call me anything you want. Just not anna banana. If you call me anna Banana. I will cry.
Yes, that's what I thought, Without. Hopefully I can get something pretty good. But I won't be trying that before I sell my 3pm tickets.
"Hughie Panaro"
"Deeners Menzel"
Nyuk nyuk nyuk
How about Bernie Petes?
Seriously though - 8pm is the way to go, Mids. The matinee just won't be the same.

Is it THAT hard to get up on Monday, after seeing a show the previous night?
