These "awards" are fan-voted popularity contests, and are easily manipulated by producers who want to read a headline like the one you just wrote. They should be taken with less than a grain of salt.
It's telling that it won no Lortel Awards (was it eligible?), no OCC Awards, and just one Drama Desk (a bizarre prize for Best Book).

And as we've been reminded lately, Memphis also won a Best Musical Tony. While not trying to directly compare the two, awards aren't the end-all determinate of quality or success. (And Ermengarde makes a very wise point about the less-than-scientific process of fan voting that those Off/Off-Off Broadway Awards use.)

Also worth noting, Barry Manilow has one of the most devoted fan bases around. He's still able to play arenas regularly and has one of the longest Las Vegas residencies of all time. Plus, his audience demographic is very similar to Broadway's top demographics. That production of Harmony was almost impossible to get a ticket to and I very much enjoyed it, found it interesting, and ultimately incredibly moving.

What planet are you living on? That show was regularly on TDF and other discount sites. It sold about as well as any middling musical at a nonprofit subscription theatre.
And as we know, if the pop star is not appearing IN the musical, their name value doesn’t go far, with rare exceptions. Ken Davenport might still try to bring it to Bway, but that move would seemingly be as ignorant as your comment.

I couldn't get a ticket after the New York Times review and CRITICS PIX.
Thank god it extended a few weeks. It as amazing.

Two thumbs down for your unnecessary rudeness.

The planet where I (for whatever reason) follow availability and discounts a lot - I think we remember it differently. All the discounts and anything other than singles were for those weird times because of the Jewish museums hours. I think it was a late night Saturday show - that's what was discounted.
And, again, I don't think you understand how large and devoted this man's fanbase is, and how it is a flawless cross with Broadway's main ticket buying demographic.
You don't have to like anything about the show, but from a business stand-point it makes sense to me. Plus, if I learned anything from Forbidden Broadway, never count out a nazi musical.
