I would guess probably something like 3/8. It's not like the production is going to need more than three weeks or rehearsal before the first preview.

How I wish it opened early March when I am there. Unfortunately, I missed it last year when it played Off-Broadway and I'd love to see it. Perhaps I will be able to see it sometime in the summer.
So glad that Alice Ripley is back on Broadway, her rendition of "I Miss the Mountains" from her concert album with Emily Skinner is breath-taking.

I find it ironic that he'll leave around March 8th because that was the original date that Next to Normal was supposed to close when it was at Second Stage before it got extended for two weeks.
Also, the Helen Hayes awards are announced 2 days before opening. That is going to be one amazing week.

I love this show, but a reasonable for Best Musical? Let's get some perspective. Everyone knows the Tonys aren't purely about merit.
A work of art is an invitation to love.

You don't know the meaning of ironic, do you?

Nominations I can see happening:
Best Musical
Lead Actress in a Musical: Alice Ripley
Featured Actor in a Musical: Aaron Tveit
Director for a Musical: Michael Greif
Lighting Design: Kevin Adams (hardly a lock as it has become a little much since the 2st production)

and can someone tell the NY Times that d'Arcy is gone...

Meant to say coincidental. Sorry.
And Sondheim_Geek, I agree with your thoughts on nominations. I could also see them possibly getting one for score.

Michael Greif(sp) should get a tony he has done great work.
Agree with the nominations but I would add score and Aaron Tveit from what I saw has a chance at winning.
SO HAPPY FOR THIS IS HAPPENING

I honestly would not care in the least if it was a show that I knew would be fine without it. I just really want it to win so it can do well!!
I mean, Spring Awakening and In The Heights won! Maybe it has a lil bit of a chance? (not that they're anything like NtN, really, but still)

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

OMG!!!!!! THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!!! "Best Musical" is no longer a lock for BILLY ELLIOT. Alice Ripley is now Leading Actress competition. The Score is now competition. OMG!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this show and am VERY pleased on the news of the transfer!!!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

allie,
Totally passed over Score. I could see that being very feasible for a win as well.

This is excellent news.
I've been championing this show to my peers since the run at Second Stage.
I'm also glad to see that the cheapest ticket price is in so many people's thoroughly affordable range. The last row of the mezz at the Longacre is wonderful.
Nothing like a good shake up.

ok, since they are closing the balcony, this will change the amount of seats obviously, yet they are paying full rent. wouldn't this be a slightly bad thing?

I;m not sure how it's a "shakeup" when its competitors for the final nomination spot are ROCK OF AGES and STORY OF MY LIFE..? Neither of which should have ever been a lock for the final spot.

This is so misguided. Good luck to it anyway though.
