Considering that it begins previews in 24 days, they better offer something fast if they don't want to play all their previews to totally papered houses.
PS - I think this show is fantastic, by the way.

CapnHook, I was commenting on how in your first post, you made it sound like the plot to N2N was typical, and had a lot to do with lasting power on Broadway. After all, you said:
"With NEXT TO NORMAL, you have a suburban family with a psycho mommy and druggie daughter. Pretty typical setup for a play. What makes the show is the score and some of the performances."
I went on to disagree that it was a typical set- up for a Broadway musical, and to disagree that this had anything to do with sales. The reasons are much more intricate, as I feel like you articulated in your second post.
"I'm talking about marketable points moreso than plot points being atypical. Coming up with play titles with similar premises is beside the point."
I must have misunderstood your first post, because I thought that's exactly what needed to be done in order to disprove the idea that N2N is a "Pretty typical setup for a play. What makes the show is the score and some of the performances" I still don't agree with that. I think the story and topics about modern America that it covers are new and pertinent to today's audience and a major point in word of mouth sales.

Haha are people seriously complaining that a discount code hasn't been released yet? Tickets have been on sale for just over 24 hours. The box office isn't even open yet. And it's on TDF for $35.
The code is coming. Let's have patience.

In order to buy tickets off of TDF you have to be a member. To be a member, you need to meet an eligibility requirement like being a teacher, government employee, member of the military, student, performing arts employee etc. You'd need to check the site for specifics. You pay a yearly fee to be a member.
When I buy tickets on TDF, there is a notice that they can't be resold. For their e-tickets, you pick them up at the box office before the show.

thanks KC
guessing the yearly fee wont be worth it for a 10 day trip.
ill wait for the code with everyone else then

theatrekid, that's not necessarily true. I was in New York for 17 days, only found out about TDF about halfway through, and still saved a bundle. I guess it just depends on how many shows you plan on seeing.
As for predictions, I can't imagine it doing too well what with so many shows closing as of late. If a show's success were equal to it's greatness, it would stay open for quite some time. But as we're seeing with more and more shows as of late (The Booth's last tenant, for instance) this is not the case. After hearing what I have from/about the show, I would be kind of upset if it closes by the time I come back to New York. While I can't imagine it has a real chance at Best Musical (Billy Elliot), Ripley's should definitely win Best Actress. Hopefully that will be enough to keep it 'Alive' for a while.

Posted: 3/3/09 at 8:14pmOne prediction I would make, the producers better get their public relations act together mighty soon. As soon as tickets went on sale, I had only one option and that was I had to go through Telecharge because I live on the West Coast and I know of no other way to get tickets. Within minutes after NEXT TO NORMAL tickets went on sale to the general public, Telecharge offered me the worst locations in the Booth Theatre (I know, it's a small house and therefore most seats are fine, but I would like to have had the option for maybe an aisle seat or something closer to the front of the mezzanine or orchestra but the locations they offered were in the last row of the mezz. and this was for the end of June or early July. I dislike Telecharge for many reasons, including all of the tacked on fees, but I think the NEXT TO NORMAL producers should make a better selection of seats available for people who really want to see this show or I predict it will have adverse effects from their audience. The Telechrage operaor said the producers onlly made certain seats available "at this time."

Are you sure? I went online that morning as was able to get orchestra Row C for the first preview. A friend got the same row for a Saturday matinee in April

I am rooting for N2N because I love the score, but we all know that BILLY ELLIOT is going to win the TONYS! I hope I get a chance to see this show on Broadway and compare it from the show I saw at 2ST! At least I get to have the OBCR? when is it going to be release? cant wait!!!
Wohoo- for N2N!!! Hoping the best for the entire cast and a long run on Broadway!!

Does anyone know if/when there will be $25 tickets?
All of the press releases have said there will be $25 tickets, if they aren't available through the BO (which they arent) then they will be either a rush or a lotto and that we'll find out about sometime after the BO opens on monday. It will probably take a little time for them to get all their info together. I plan on going to the box office monday to ask, and then every few days after that until they know.

Posted: 3/3/09 at 9:01pmActor7 ~ If you put in for the price of rear mezz, you'r going to get offered rear mezz. I just searched for tickets "best available" for every show from June 20 through July 11 and the WORST that came up was row A for the evening performance July 11.

I did it over the phone and asked for the closest seats to the stage or any possible aisle seats and was told all that was available for the last week of June or first week of July was last row of mezz. I had a seating chart and asked for specific locations. I was even told that all center sections were not available and maybe the producers were selling them as "premium seats" and if they didn't sell maybe they would be released at a later date. That was my experience with the Telecharge Operator who took my order.
That's why I prefer to walk right up to a real person in a real box office but being 3000 miles from NYC, I can't do that.
re: NEXT TO NORMAL box office predictions?#41
Posted: 3/3/09 at 10:43pmI just searched June 30th, and got Aisle seats in the front row. And after clicking "i want to look for the next seats" a few times i get to Row H seats 1-3, also on the aisle.

Posted: 3/4/09 at 12:12amReally? How many seats are you looking for, Actor? Just yesterday I was looking for tickets and got 5th row on the 28th of March, and that was after passing up several other seats that were closer.

It's the main plot twist and it would best to not elaborate.

I don't think she has it in the bag. I think she has a nomination in the bag, but she's going to have some serious competition from Josefina Scaglione.
I think Best Book could be more likely.
