Did anyone else see the segment NY1 did on Tony voters? They had to censor the voters' faces and distort their voices. I knew what was behind the voting for the TONYs from these boards. The segment just confirmed everything.
This one voter says that South Pacific is going to "hands down" win the best musical revival, therefore she is voting for Sunday in the Park with George.
When asked about best book, the same voter says that she's voting for Passing Strange and it's the only place she's voting for Passing Strange. Another voter says that with all the nominations for Passing Strange, people "won't want it to walk away empty handed"..as opposed to giving a show an award they actually deserve? I really hope these Tony voters featured in the segment don't represent the majority of the voters.
Anyway, Cubby Bernstein made a small appearance at the end and introduced himself as Xanadu's Tony Campaign Manager.
Even with a censored face and distorted voice, from that outfit and open shirt you could make out Richard Ridge without problem (btw, he favors Xanadu).
I'm glad I didn't see the segment here in Boston. It just drives the point home. The awards aren't given in the way they should ( SA winning everthing last season). So I guess we know what we are in store for this Sunday. But I hope that there will be one big upset.
I'm not usually much of a ****, but when they distort people's voices on the news, it scares the living crap out of me. Especially when it's real sudden and it's that llooow voice.
