I’m hoping some places keep Covid checks in place for a while.

I feel like the people who always hated masks or thought they were ineffective are just more comfortable being openly ****ty now. Regardless of business policies, every place is now the subway where someone who doesn't want to wear a mask properly won't do so unless they're directed confronted.
I'm deciding if I want to restock on N95s. Now that I've gotten used to them, it does make me feel better about navigating through a world where everyone is doing their own thing. But they're neither cheap nor recyclable.
one thing about this pandemic, it has "unmasked" people for who and what they really are - a helpful and truly frightening thing.

I'm all for requiring people to present to present proof of vaccination before they attend a show. Once they show their vaccination form, though, I'm very cool with mask wearing being optional.

Where things are headed elsewhere…
San Francisco dropped all restrictions on indoor restaurants and bars as of Friday. Feinstein’s at the Nikko did not require proof of vaccination at the door and celebrated the elimination of mask and vaccination requirements before Melissa Errico’s performance Friday night. This was applauded by most of the audience. The majority were not masked, even though it was an older crowd. I knew masks were not required, as I had checked in advance, but was caught off-guard by the elimination of vaccine requirements (which I had been told would be enforced a few weeks ago).
I don’t know how individual theaters will handle this. I will find out how the Curran deals with it when I see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Sunday evening. ETA: I saw the play on Sunday evening. The Curran is still stringent about masks and vaccination requirements.
I will have to check with the Berkeley Rep to see if its policy will change. (I had hoped to see Octet late next month.) The theater did require masks and a vaccination check as of a couple weeks ago when I saw Swept Away there.
It’s looking like most touring houses have dropped vaccine and mask requirements. I did get an e-mail that the people in the front two rows or Hamilton are required to be masked but other than that, masks are optional.

Looks like a potpourri out there: a couple of NYC venues have 100% dropped all vaccine mandates, the vast majority still enforce the 2-shot requirement, and a handful of off-Broadway nonprofits go further and mandate a booster. One woman on Facebook implied on the Signature's Facebook page that she'd love to see Confederates, but their booster requirement is preventing her from doing it.

The vaccine requirement was dropped recently in Providence - I was caught off-guard when I saw The Prom this week, as there was never any notification about it. Masks still required for now.
I'm seeing the DEH tour in Rochester next month. Website of the theatre says vaccines and masks still required as of now. (Updated Feb 14 with added vax requirements for kids over 5).

I don't care when they drop mandates-when I see theater, for the foreseeable future I will be wearing a mask.
