Nathan Lane - Addams Family stage door

I was wondering, is he continuing the tradition of not coming out the stage door when the show isn't getting great reviews? I love Nathan Lane - my favorite actor - and I'm supposed to be coming up to NY in the fall to see the show and I'm really wanting to meet him after this time. When I lived there in 2006, I saw him in The Odd Couple and Butley and he didn't come out after either.

No he doesn't come out. Everyone else does though and they're all very nice.

Yeah, I had a feeling he wouldn't. What about getting there a few hours before the show? He enters the stage door, I'm sure..

ive seen people get autographs before the show as he enters the stage door, but he doesnt stop to chat. sign and fly.

I wouldn't be chasing him with 50 playbills and a sharpie. Lol Just a sign and fly is all I really care for. I've heard he isn't the most social at the doors or if you happen to run into him in the city, which is understandable,of course.

Several years ago when he was in "The Odd Couple," I saw him come out the stage door and sign autographs quite a few times.

Why bother the guy before the show? If he has a reputation for not coming out after the show to greet the fans, do you think he'll want to deal with people when he's in a hurry to prepare for the show?

I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but leave the guy alone if he doesn't want to be bothered! Even if you only have a sign and a flyer (which I assume is what you meant instead of "fly"). He's not required to greet fans.

Nathan Lane is comic genius but also one of the grumpiest people on broadway. I wouldn't bother him.

millie_dillmount, that is true but the reason I asked is because I've heard many people do the same thing to get a quick autograph from him. And they all say even though he is shy, he's usually kind and doesn't mind much. Like I said, I'm not chasing him. If he wants to sign, cool. If not, understandable. I'm not a 14 year old Wicked fan girl. Lol

He said in an interview (i forget which) that he knows he isn't the most sociable person, when he greets a fan, he doesn't like to chat because he's not sociable. He'll say "hi" and wot not, but not have a HUGE conversation with you.

Even Bebe Neuwirth isn't sociable, she said things like a party strike fear into her, a room full of people she doesn't know, or just single people she doesn't know daunts her. But signing she doesn't mind.
