Nathan and Matthew....are they going to close out "The Producers?"
Nathan and Matthew....are they going to close out "The Producers?"#1

Tele-charge now is selling tickets for "The Producers" through May 6th. Earlier this year, they were selling tickets through June. Then the Nathan and Matthew rumors started up and Telecharge was only selling through March. Now, they have opened up ticket sales for a few month months. Tony Danza is leaving TP next month.
If Nathan and Matthew do return and close out the show, any guesses as to when that will be??

I don't know if Producers is closing May 6th, but I highly doubt that Nathan and Matthew would close out the show. They already did one return engagement...it's time for them to move on.
Does anyone know who the new Max is going to be after Danza leaves on March 11th? And I might check out Producers March 14th...is Hunter still going to be there?

You're right, it's not closing on May 6th. It's just interesting that before all the Nathan and Matt rumors started, Telecharge was selling tickets through June. Then the rumors started, and they were only selling through March.....when Tony D was leaving the show.
Now, tickets are on sale through May 6th. If the show is closing at the end of June with Matthew and Nathan, I wonder when they will come back?

I don't see why they would close it. Don't they have other projects going on?
I just don't see them doing it.

Posted: 2/10/07 at 5:06pmMaybe they were only selling through March because they were debating whether or not to close the show with Danza? And ultimately decided to let the Producers run for a few more months after he left?

Posted: 2/10/07 at 5:09pmMaybe Danza is extending until May 6th?

I thought he was leaving March 11th. I didn't really care for the video of him so I was hoping to see someone else.
I know Gary Beach is committed to Les Mis right now, and he's had his time with Producers, so this sounds crazy, but does anyone think he would make a good Max?

We'll just have to play the waiting game and see if the rumors are true that Nathan and Matthew will close out the show. And, that "Young Frankenstein" this open this Fall at The St. James.
They both own part of the show, too. These are their signature roles and it would be terrific if they do come back.

Posted: 2/10/07 at 5:24pmYes I did read the entire thread, but some of the people in the thread were saying that The Producers is not closing in March. Does that mean that the Producers is not closing or that its just not closing in March?

Posted: 2/10/07 at 5:29pmIt would be great if Nathan came back , especially with Hunter Foster as his Leo. Mannered Broderick is awful and he wouldn't be missed.

You're right.......Hunter Foster is a fantastic Leo Bloom. Never saw Roger Bart, and would love to have see him. Since Matthew was the first Leo Bloom that I saw, actually I saw MB do Leo twice, he's my fave.

Spoke with Tony D. this afternoon. He's out on March 11.
The tentative close date is June 24th.
Having seen 4 different people playing Bloom (Matthew Broderick twice, Hunter Foster, Martin Short, and Roger Bart), I can safely say that Foster is the best.

Posted: 2/11/07 at 3:30amThus far, closing date does look like June 24th. And, I do agree that Hunter Foster is the best Bloom. Roger Bart's Bloom is pretty amazing as well. But I'd watch either of them do anything. Foster's definitely got the incredible voice, though. And the hysterics are simply priceless. =)

I've been told by an ironclad source that:
1. Producers will stay open until Young Frankenstein is ready to take over the St. James. So it depends on how long YF will take to load in and rehearse and so on for their opening night.
2. The producers of "Producers" are trying as hard as they can to get Lane and Broderick. Your guess is as good as mine as to whether they'll actually do it. Personally, I doubt it (or at least I really doubt that Lane will do it. Maybe Broderick.)
This isn't much new info but it is confirmation of the current thinking.

I doubt that either Nathan Lane or Matthew Broderick will come back to the roles of Max and Leo. Both have said many times, after the movie not again.
Rumor has it, that The Producers will bring back John Tracey Egan as Max to finish out the shows run.
It's also been stated, that Mel Brooks and the producers of YF are looking for alternative theatres to the St. James for YF.
The Producers was set to close on June 24th, but the producers are hoping to extent the run to July 4th if Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick return the roles.

Yeah, Bill Nolte mentioned he re-signed his contract through July 4th. Which, of course, doesn't necessarily mean it'll run that long, but it's a refreshing thought. (For those of us who enjoy the show, anyway.)
I'd love to see JT Egan back as Max. He's so perfect. But I've heard he's set to be in The Little Mermaid in the fall, so I'm not sure if he'll close the show if it runs through July. Although, I guess that depends on when TLM opens. I don't have all this information. Perhaps I should've thought that out before I began to babble.
Regardless, I'd love to see John Treacy Egan and Hunter Foster close the show. They have wonderful chemistry, not only with each other but with the entire ensemble (was that redundant? lol).
Babble complete.

Posted: 2/13/07 at 9:10amI'm not sure if he started already, but Hunter Foster is/going to be Leo again and they might just close off the run with him. I don't see this show closing with a bang with Nathan and Matthew.

"It would be great if Nathan came back , especially with Hunter Foster as his Leo. Mannered Broderick is awful and he wouldn't be missed."
Are you kidding? Matthew was an amazing Leo. Hello Tony Award nomminee. I loved Roger Bart in the role too, I saw him on his third last night with the show. I haven't seen Hunter Foster in it, I'd love to though. I've heard great things about him.
Anyway, I think it'd be awesome if Nathan and Matthew came back to close the show, I'd definitely see it. :)

Posted: 2/13/07 at 2:19pmI'd prefer to see Lane and Foster in a perfect world. Do they have a set opening date for YF?
re: Nathan and Matthew....are they going to close out 'The Producers?'#24
Posted: 2/13/07 at 2:31pmI think Halloween is the tentative opening date, but I could be wrong.
