A friend of mine told me, on good authority, that Broadway world will be doing a production of the shape of things as part of their plays in the house series.

Im not sure how true it is, but I hope it is because its one of my favorite plays and movies of all time.

Did anyone see their production of the little dog laughed this afternoon? I feel like Johnny Galecki would be a good Adam in the shape of things. I really wonder who theyre going to cast if the rumor is true!

I’m not sure any of us really know the deal with MCC and LaBute. I’m just going by the play itself here and I agree with Jordan. This is an absolutely incredible piece of theatre. I hope BWW revives a production of it, albeit virtually, with an awesome cast.

During quarantine, yeah.

I wish they would get the original cast but I think they’re all a bit too old now. However, it doesn’t really matter in a reading setting.

Yes, “we” are. All cancellations are cancelled until further notice. If you have a problem with it make a sign and go picket somewhere —perhaps on the steps of the Times Square TKTS booth?

I’m not quite sure it was officially announced, but if you go on the stars in the house website there are a bunch of plays listed in the coming weeks.

Ah. So the “Stars in the House” isn’t affiliated with BWW. That’s where the confusion is.

NO, Billy. You’re not allowed to talk about that because he’s “been canceled” or whatever bullsh*t people say to make themselves feel superior.

But if a reading were to happen on “Plays in the House” I’d imagine they’d try to get the original cast of Rudd, Weisz, Mol & Weller since they’re all about gathering original casts.

I’m hearing this from a friend of a friend who is apparently producing it. Again, I haven’t heard it from that person directly (nor do I even know that person) so I don’t know how true it is. But my friend said that Katie Rose Clarke is apparently involved, so I imagine they’re going with a new, younger cast in their 30s?

The lead male in Shape of Things (Adam) is anything but misogynistic. The female (Eve) has all the power.  

Maybe some don’t agree with all of LaBute’s writing and thats completely fine. That’s the purpose of art. And especially in this piece. Art is subjective and should be celebrated and discussed. 

I’m not defending the man because I don’t know him personally and nobody knows what’s true and what isn’t. But I sure as hell will defend his art.

Just visited the Shape of Things website where there is a link to The Actor’s Fund website. The press release says that a five dollar donation to The Actor’s Fund is recommended. I don’t really have money nowadays, is there any way they would be able to check and see if we donate it or not? I reallllly want to watch this. And I will try to donate once I’m able to get a job again.
