Will we ever see her on Broadway again? Maybe as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors?

Please no to Audrey? Or please no to Nellie altogether?
To Nellie. I really can't stand her on stage. Her performance in Threepenny Opera remains one of my most uncomfortable experiences in my 20+ years of seeing theatre.
I've only ever seen her in a concert setting--though never an actual Nellie McKay concert; just as a guest performer.
But I thought she was remarkable. I loved the persona and the voice. I have no idea how that might (or might not) transfer to an actual musical.
Yah, I should clarify. I have no problem with her when she's doing her concert schtick. She's cute enough. But she can't act her way out of a paper bag.
I was just thinking about her the other day when I saw Threepenny. I saw a bootleg of the 2006 production, and she was an absolutely abysmal Polly.
She returned to the stage just last year in OLD HATS.

Oh, I didn't realize she performed in that. I just thought she wrote music.
I thought she was great in THREEPENNY. One of the few bright spots in that otherwise dreadful production (along with Lauper and Dale).
Her style is unique, though, as others have said, and wouldn't work in just any role.
I could actually see her as Sally in CABARET, or Ella in BELLS ARE RINGING.

It's too bad the book of this show is so creaky. I wonder if there could be a rewrite. The Faith Prince revival several years ago just pointed out how dated it is.
Sally in CABARET would indeed be a perfect role for her, particularly in the Sam Mendes production.

As the vocalist/musician though. She wasn't acting.
