haha I love it!!!
Now that's A Chorus Line The Movie.
and why are they just releasing this commercial now- when half that cast is no longer there?
I think that they should remake the movie version using the new cast. Except maybe a new fresh Diana, and definatly Cassie.
I want someone to make an A Chorus Line movie based on Baayork's "On The Line" book.
All the backstage drama, it would be awesome.
A partial musical of the making of a musical- including original cut songs and alternate versions, like cutting the guys in THE MUSIC AND THE MIRROR.
How does it ruin the ending?; (PM me if you dont' want to post it). For whatever ewsason it cuts off for me with what appears to be Paul McGill doing a leap.
*SPOILER*
It ruins the end because the last few shots are people disappearing from the stage and the group that's left are the people who get into the show. You can't see their faces but it is kinda weird that they would end the commercial like that...
They should've just done random people disseapearing, not the actual people who don't make it...
Looks like they brought in a VERY shiny dance floor for the shoot.
that dance floor actually looks kind of ridiculous- almost like a grey mirror of some sort, haha
it does look like a good commercial, though, but released very late, i must agree
With a National Tour going out in May they definitely needed to produce a commercial.
mateo,
From what I gather, something like that was Michael Bennett's original concept for the movie: making it about people auditioning for the movie. Though a movie of "On the Line" would be excellent...
^ When I read the book- It was very easy for me to see "On The Line" as a film.
Craig Zadan, Neil Meron - if you are reading this, make this a movie- and give me a call 'cause I want to work on it!

If I had no idea what A Chorus Line was, I would NOT want to see it after watching this commerical.
It's like American Idol: The Musical. Thousands audition! Only 24 make it to the stage! In the end, only 4 boys and 4 girls will be left standing!
I hate how it spoils the ending.
They really need to record one with the new cast. Most of them are gone!
They should have shown everyone fade out and close on the empty stage and line.
Unless you've seen the show and are able to pick apart each character, I don't think people are going to notice that those are the people who make it (unless they read this thread). If I didn't see it, I would just see random people standing there, especially as you pointed out that most of the original cast left (and you can't even see their faces in the commercial).
I actually really like the commercial. While it doesn't highlight the songs, I like how it captures the energy of the choreography, and how it mixes the anxious faces of the auditioners. In terms of spoiling the ending, people that don't know won't get it watching it on TV (unless they DVR it and rewind it over and over), and those that do, do.
True though. The Best. Musical. Ever. Ending. Blows.
Way to ruin the ending. But if you don't know the show, you're not going to realize anyway.

"On The Line" what is it about? Is it just like A Chorus Line. I havent seen the show yet (Sept 22 hopefully)
Im 15 and love to read, would it be appropriate, easy enough for me to read (not like the Wicked book)?
"On The Line" is a book based on the real life accounts of the dancers who were in the Original Broadway Cast of A Chorus Line.
I would see the show and buy the original cast recording - get familiar with who played whom and then read the book (only if you really want to.)
It gives you good backstory in to the creation of the musical.
But when I read it - I just felt it would make a great movie. A twist on creating a new filmed version of "A Chorus Line" that isn't soley based on the show.
