Sorta like Anthony Rapp's Without You.... sorta kind of not really?
I have the OBCR and the OBRCR (2006)
I know all the songs and is familiar enough with what goes on in the story. Havent seen the movie (should I?) and I dont know that much about the character like their names or who the obc was. I personally can't stand the OBCR because I listen to the OBRCR so much. What do you suggest
I don't know what Anthony Rapp's Without You is.
Um. No - I dont recommend the movie to anyone.
If you can't stand the OBCR I don't know what to say.
Its a fun read- if you want to know more about the show I recommend it.

Ok, Thanks for your help i'll check out the library tomorrow!
A Chorus Line. The best musical. EVER. That made me laugh.
Ugh. I really hate their "Best Musical. Ever." tagline. I know it was used for the original production, and it might have been true then. But definitely not for this production.

For the people saying, "People won't get it who haven't seen it", think about it... RIGHT before the people start disappearing at the end, it says, "8 WILL GET IT" or whatever. People have that instilled in their minds and will probably pick up that the people disappearing have something to do with the auditions and people being cut...
Maybe?
But it was kinda funny.
I liked it. It made me want to see the show, which I've honestly never had an interest in before. Also, how does it ruin the ending? Someone feel free to PM me and let me know, haha.

Gosh, you guys are acting as if everyone has a photographic memory.
Not exactly crazy over the new commercial. Hate the ending in showing the 8 people that get it and the line "Best. Musical. Ever." It certainly is one of the best musicals ever, but it just sounds really corny.

While On the Line would make a great movie about the creating of ACL, I would love to see a movie of The Longest Line, which is about the run of the show ... replacements, backstage gossip, Michael's death, the record breaking performance, originals coming back, and the closing (which is pretty dishy, because final cast members are quoted as saying that at the closing performance and party, original cast members wanted nothing to do with final cast members).
As for the commercial... it is very "TV Reality Show", even using the word "winning" for those who get chosen to be in the show. The commercial makes it sound like a contest rather an an audition. I can just see it now ... a reality show to cast the next Cassie and Zach is called "A Chorus Line ... Use Me, Choose Me."
I think if anything it would be called "God, I hope I get it."
WV- 'On The Line' discusses the run of the show and tours, deaths etc - but I have yet to read 'The Longest Line'...I suppose I should.
either way the making of ACL is just chock full of goodies.
Mateo .. you def should read The Longest Line ... it covers so many aspects of the running of the show than any of the other ACL books. Very detailed information about marketing plans, press, commercials (radio and TV), it even lists ACL's grosses for every week of its run, and lists all the Broadway shows that were playing during ACL's 15 year run. Its really a history book of sorts. Even the designers, musicians, general managers, stage managers and the Shuberts (Bernie Jacobs and Gerald Schoenfeld) are interviewed. So is Neil Simon, and I believe this is the only book where he talks openly about his involvement in writing some of the funnier lines. And its a beautiful book with many rare photos that apparently were contributed from people's personal collections, not just the standard Martha Swope shots.

'The Longest Line' is a fascinating read, told entirely in quotes by the people involved. It's interesting to read all the different perceptions people had of the same events. Tons of great photos, too. I highly recommend it, along with 'On The Line,' which focuses more on the creation/evolution of the piece rather than the entire run, as I recall.
A Chorus Line: The Movie is not a good representation of the show, but it's worth checking out for people who are real fanatics.
(There's a chapter in 'The Longest Line' about reaction to the film, BTW.)
"The Best Musical. Ever." was part of the advertising campaign for the original production---this isn't something new they dreamt up.
I'll order it. Thanks guys!
