Posted: 2/28/14 at 11:32amPut me down as another who liked the recent revival a lot. It's the first time I truly enjoyed Annie. For me it was much more real and less cartoonish than other Annies I have seen. And I include Katie Finneran's Miss Hannigan in that assessment. But I realize that's also why many didn't like it. Lilla Crawford was the first Annie I didn't find irritating. Anthony Warlow was fine, but for me Daddy W will always be a rather thankless role.

I loved Anthony Warlow. I thought he was the best Warbucks ever..and I have seen a bunch. Loved Lilla and I remember loving Allison Smith when I saw her years ago (quite a few times if I remember correctly). The staging and especially the choreography really was lacking in this last production but I liked it more than a lot of others did.

Posted: 3/1/14 at 8:55amI just don't see what's wrong with trying something DIFFERENT (Lapines version) . From a kids perspective the darkness (literally the colors) in "Herbert Hoover" and some of the more scenes depicting the depression were a bit drab, as an adult I loved him tackling the darkness of the time juxtaposed with the brightness of Warbucks' home. Charnine seems like an egomaniac to me.
