Haven't seen them but thought I should mention that Matt Caplan is coming back.
As Gordon.

Not to defend Mister Cappycakes, but he's coming back as Gordon, not Mark (although he's apparently understudying Mark and Roger).
As a sidenote, I have absolutely no desire to see this cast.

#6Why not MARK?
Posted: 10/17/07 at 6:12pmI find it funny that Matt is coming back to play Gorden when it is a much smalller part and seeing that he has already played Mark, wouldn't this be like a step down for him.

Who cares? It's Rent, this happens all the time -- look at the person he'll be replacing.
(Don't forget that after playing Mark on tour for forever, Matt made his Broadway debut as a swing.)

Posted: 10/17/07 at 6:24pmwell matt tends to do better as mark in small doses.... and his roger is quite good.

Posted: 10/17/07 at 9:30pmhow do you know that Matt Caplan is coming back to RENT? I just checked his myspace and his website and there was no announcement that he was coming back.

#13Why not MARK?
Posted: 10/17/07 at 9:56pmI saw the cast last Thursday. Tamyra wasn't in that night and Maureen's understudy was on as well. I did enjoy it, but I wasn't the biggest fan of Roger. I feel that he didn't have as much emotion as he could have had. Everyone else seemed okay.

Posted: 10/17/07 at 11:54pmSadly, I think I'd rather see the lolworthy concept of Caplan as Roger than see Declan again. Unless Declan now sings in anything other than mumbles and falsettos, and he's started having some sort of present chemistry with the cast around him.

"As a sidenote, I have absolutely no desire to see this cast."
For the first time in a while, neither do I. I was supposed to see it this weekend but I decided against it when i remembered the cast, particularly Tamyra. I've seen her twice she bothered me both times. And Luther, karmine, and D'Monroe aren't even there anymore along with many others.

The announcement went out on his myspace.
Matt is coming back to Rent:
"That's right folks... today Matt has begun rehearsals for his return to RENT on Broadway!
Matt will be taking over the role of Gordon, and will be understudying both roles of Roger and Mark.
Those of you who've been following Matt's career for a long time realize that this is truly a rare oppurtunity to see him in several different roles!!!
As of right now-- Matt starts performances this coming Friday, October 26th... but that is subject to change at any moment, with or without notice. I will certainly do my best to post any changes right away if there are any.
Also, Matt will be letting me know any time he will be playing Roger or Mark so that I can let you guys know. FYI-- it may be with just several hours notice but for those of you in NYC... you know it will be worth it! We both promise to do our best to keep you informed.
So start making plans... more details coming soon (re: length of contract, etc) but for now... be excited!
Also... this will mean more NYC gigs coming soon as well... and we promise to get some all-ages ones booked asap!
THANKS, AS ALWAYS, FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!! SPREAD THE NEWS!!!"
