I vaguely remember there being a full-scale stage production of Snow White sometime in the 80s or early 90s. And I remember not liking it very much.

My vote goes to The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I'm not sure it's reached "classic" status, but it's probably the most Broadway-worthy of Disney's animated films.

There was "Snow White Live" at Radio City in late 1979-1980. It was a stage adaptation of the Disney film, but changed a bit of the plot (i.e. showing Snow White's father) and adding an opening number, and a new song for the Prince called "Will I Ever See Her Again?" It was released on VHS, but is hard to find. Anne Francine (who was a replacement Vera in the OBC of Mame, and later played Vera in the revival of Mame) played the Evil Queen.

Also, Dumbo was rumoured to come to Broadway. Disney was supposed to have bought the web addresses of "dumbothemusical.com", "dumboonbroadway.com", etc.) There was an article saying that Disney liked the puppetry of War Horse, and thought it could be possible for Dumbo. It was also rumoured that Stevie Wonder might write additional music for the show.

Like many have said, the Berlin production of Hunchback needs to come to Broadway.

Also, I *may* have a pet project of turning Hercules into a stage musical, using a lot of influence from traditional Greek theatre.

I vote for Hercules, it's a film that has the potential to be expanded into a stage musical using elements of Greek theatres. The Muses IMO were the best bit about Hercules and should be retained and I think Hades would have to have a song or three. Visually the challenge is how to do the monsters and Pegasus, it would be tempting to cut Pegasus as he isn't essential to the story just so you don't have to do a giant horse puppet.

I doubt we'd see SotS unless they went more into "Wind Done Gone" terrain- with Uncle Remus and the grandmother having the same father and Remus going into politics at the end, thus reflecting historical Reconstruction.

But Story of Menstruation would be the most offensive, I'd think.

3 Caballeros would be fun, but my all-time favorite is the Gargoyles tv show.

Dumbo is on the development board for Disney, I've seen it myself.

And as I recall, it was pretty close to the top.

^ I am not sure if I can see it working. The main character is mute the entire film. They might have to have him sing what is going on inside his head like "The Little Mermaid."

If they are not going to bring "Aladdin" to Broadway, my vote goes to reviving "Snow White" (which played at Radio City Music Hall) "Sleeping Beauty" would not be a bad idea if they can find a way to explore Aurora's personality more since she only appeared in the film for 18 minutes.

my first choice would be Hunchback.

2nd choice would be Princess and the Frog.

and for the purposes of this board I voted for Snow White! only because I would totally try out for Bashful or Sleepy. lol

It'd be funny to see Dopey up on stage, too.

Hunchback, they already have a near perfect production. I would like to see it realized in New York within 2 years.

My vote is for Aladdin, mainly due to the fact it is already being produced around the country (the Muny, Tuacahn). After that, though, it would have to be Hunchback, then Hercules
