re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

Oh please, Pascal was easily weakest link in the film and maybe the promoters know this. It is a tad surprising they are not pushing Thoms or Rapp.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

The only award nominationthis film really deserves is Suporting Actress for Idina Menzel. She was phenonenal. Other than that, I didn't care for the film.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

I didn't think Idina was all that great in it. Adam was definitely the weakest link in terms of acting imo.
What happened to Andrae?

Fan: Oh my god! You're, like, standing right there and, like, looking right at me and, like, oh my god! Anthony Rapp: Yes, that's a pretty accurate discription of reality.

I didn't think Idina was all that amazing either. I thought Jesse L. Martin, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Tracie Thoms, and Rosario Dawson were all very good. I love Adam, Idina and Taye .. but if I had to give an award to someone, it wouldnt be them.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

I like Adam (see avatar) and thought he did a nice acting job, but I don't think he was better than Rosario, Jesse, and Wilson. Voice is a different story.

Idina, though... I honestly don't see her appeal acting-wise at all. The delivery of the "lucky we were all friends" line was the worst. Ugh.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

Its for the Golden Globes, as there is no Oscar category concerning Ensemble acting.

IMO, best performances in order:
1. Rosario
2. Jesse
3. Anthony
4. Wilson
5. Tracie
6. Idina
7. Adam
8. Taye

I'm a huge Adam fan... but he just didn't work, unfortunately. As for Idina, I didn't think she was anything special.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

IMO, Anthony, Jesse, Rosario, Tracie, and Wilson were fantastic. Although I love Adam, his acting wasn't that great, and as for Idina...well, that's self-explanatory. I thought Taye did a decent job, although Benny wasn't a main character.

If it were up to me, Idina shouldn't even be considered. Put the cat suit in place of her.

Well, if you're talking about singing (this is a musical) she was great. I can see what you mean about acting. I was asuming nominting comittees only are counting singing since it is a musical. She is a bit of a wooden actress.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

Yes, I think this entire thread is discussing strictly their acting. I think it's also a safe assumption that Idina and Adam would be higher on most people's lists of "best performances" if we were rating only their singing ability.

I really didn't have a problem with Adam's acting as opposed to many here -- I just don't feel it's award-worthy. In my opinion, it got the job done. Idina's acting didn't. Taye didn't bother me considering he was in so little of the film, but he did seem to be going through the motions a bit. Whatever.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

Minus Martin, who was just bad, that card is campaigning the right people. Menzel, Heredia, and Dawson were easily the best in the film.

Taye I found to be, well, flawless, as much as I hate the word. It's just not a role that would ever get awards attention.

Then again, none of the performances are really award worthy. It's just...the way the film was made.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

Am I the only one who thought Idina rocked in the movie? Guess I am. But I must agree, Adam was the weakest link. But why the hell is Tracie not on there?!?! She rocked!

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

Tracie saved the movie for me. Wilson was also great - but I am sorry to say I was not a Menzel fan - She made choices and I did not like them. But hey, at least she amde them!!

I didn't think Martin was bad at all. I thought his was one of the best preformances in the film.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

He did nothing in the film that any mediocre actor I know couldn't have done. His "I'll Cover You (Resprise)" was lacking any sort of real emotion; it seemed as though he put on his (unconvincing) "sad face" and over dramatically sang the song. And he played the entire character like a hyper fratboy.

ANYone can joke around like that.

re: New Rent 'For Your Consideration' Poster

IMO, while most of the performances were good, Jesse's was the most award-worthy of the bunch. I wasn't thrilled with Idina's performance overall, but she absolutely nailed Over The Moon.

It's funny how opposite some of these opinions are.

If you ask me, the ONE part Menzel absolutely did not nail was "Over the Moon."
