I was just watching MTV and I saw a completely new trailer. I'll try to describe as much as I can remember but I just want to say that I think it's the best trailer out there in terms of making non RENT fans interested. So what I remember is....
-It started with Angel playing the drums, which turns out to be the intro music for Out Tonight
-While that intro music is playing, we see the names of the 8 characters flash and after each name we see a picture of them (including nice new shot of Roher standing holding his guitar which I don't think we've seen before)
-Out Tonight became the background music
-There was a clip of Collins at the phonebooth downstairs he says something like "Hey, guess who's back in town. It's Collins man, throw down the key" and then we see Mark climbing out of the loft onto the fire escape and throwing down the key
-The next clip was Benny/Mark/Roger. Benny asks Mark how Maureen is and if he is still dating her. Mark says he was dumped Benny asks if she's got a new man, Mark and Roger together say "Joanne". Then, Benny like cackles/laughs and bends over he finds it so funny - it's great.
-We see Roger asking Mimi if she wants to go to the dinner party, and there's a longer response from Mimi. She says something like "Sure, I'd like that"
-the rest is clips we've seen before, Mimi coming in the fire escape, the Roger/Mimi kiss in the snow, New Year's Ever, LVB, Sante Fe clips on the subway.
Hopefully, it will surface online soon - it was really awesome. I defintiely did a double take because I wasn't expecting to hear Out Tonight on TV.
OOOOO..... I wanna see!!!!

They've been plugging the movie a LOT on MTV. Trying to attract new teenage fanatics, I guess.

I need to start watching more MTV.
Such smart marketing. That's definitely the crowd they're going to have the best chance of drawing in.
If anyone on the west coast wants to try and catch it, it was during a repeat of the show Miss Seventeen at 1:30 eastern time.
oooh, sounds lovely.
*squee*
That's sounds awesome! I must keep MTV on now.
Guess I'd better start watching MTV religiously, or at least whenever there are commercial breaks. :-P
Love the "SOON" Icon by the way Emcee.
Yeah, they're really pushing this movie... I saw trailers for RENT on MTV 4 times today. They're promoting it a lot more than Harry Potter too. I can't wait!!

never thought id say this, but im turning on MTV right now.
EDIT: turned MTV off after 20 minutes, haha. hopefully someone posts it online?
I didn't make the GIF, but I love it and I'm going to post it everywhere.
This is probably a dumb question Em, but is he saying SOON in the icon/ what is he saying?
Heh, well I believe that's the part of the video where he's saying 'very happy'. The part where he says 'Soon' was like 15-20 caps, which I couldn't make small enough to fit on LJ, so I just used the second part, but I still think it looks ok...yes?
In the blog enrty that that came from, he's like "it's sooooooooon!"

It's good thing I Tivo some stuff on MTV.
I don't have Cable, dammit, which means I don't have MTV, which means I can't see the trailer!!! WAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! (Calms down, releived that a whole new generation might get themselves into theatre as a result of all the marketing that MTV is doing.)
