5 OBC members left the cast on Saturday (I think?). Does anyone know anything about the replacements? And has anyone seen them yet?
They don't have Sunday shows, so no, no one has seen them in the roles.
Their first performance is in about an hour and 45 minutes.

Remy Zaken, Lilli Cooper, Skylar Astin, Phoebe Strole, and Brian Charles Johnson left. Their replacements are:
Amanda Castanos: Martha
Emily Kinney: Anna
Caitlin Kinnunen: Thea
Andrew Durand: Georg
Gabriel Violett: Otto
I have no idea who is replacing them because I can't remember their names, but, Skylar Astin, Brian Charles Johnson, Remy Zaiken, Phoebe Strole, and Lili Cooper all left.
They were the last of the original cast members who had been with the show since the Atlantic run to leave. Christine Estabrook and Gerard Canonicco, who were not with the show in Atlantic, remain.

frances mercanti anthony is there as well.
Although if you listen to Gerard, he's the only one left that's been there since day one of the Broadway production since Christine left and came back and Frances wasn't at the first rehearsal.
They udpated the offical site with their headshots.
I believe Brian Charles Johnston was Moritz at this past Saturday's matinee.
He was. And was amazing - absolutely fantastic in every way. Could not have been more pleased with his performance.
Was it his first time as Moritz? I never heard of him going on before, even though I knew he was an understudy.

On Friday, one of my students in my summer classes mentioned that he has a friend named Wesley who just signed a contract for Spring Awakening last week. He didn't know which part his friend is going to perform, but he said that his friend gets an extra $200 a week to not cut his hair, and an additional $200 a week because he takes his shirt off in the show. When he said the hair thing I thought Moritz, but I guess with the shirt thing he must be a Melchoir. But who knows maybe this kid just got his info wrong.
Yes, he's gone on before....maybe twice?
Three more are leaving on 8/2: all to do the tour -- Bashoff, Riabko and Matt Shingledecker...who recently replaced Matt Doyle in ensemble.
I saw Matt Shingledecker as Melchoir (his first performance!) on the 12th, and I also heard he went on for this past Saturday's matinee as well. What did you people think of him?
Off topic, but I really want to see Matt Doyle's Melchoir.
That money thing sounds ridiculous. Hair requirements are hair requirements: it comes with the job.
and no one takes their shirt off in the show.

Yeah I will talk to this kid again tomorrow and try to get better information from him.
Who is Shingledecker playing in the tour?
i believe shingledecker is georg....
so any reviews of the new cast? i've been reading emily kinney's (anna) blog about the rehearsals and i'm intrigued.
I didnt know the rest of the OBC left. I have front row center tickets for august 31 and was hoping to see a few of them. Oh well, im sure the new cast will be great too.

I feel like with their new cast members, the production team is trying to cast this show way younger than the intended age. I mean, the leads weren't really that young - Michelle and Groff, right?

Well the intended age of the characters is about 14/15. I could be wrong, but I think Groff was 22/23 when he played this role, and Lea was 20/21. Phoebe was the oldest, and I think she's 25 now? The new Anna is about 23, I think, Caitlin Kinnunen (the new Thea) is 16, and I think a fair amount of new cast members on Broadway and on the tour are recent college graduates, but there are also a fair share that are around 18/19.
