i agree jon- i think that the makeup looked a lot more translucent on idina, and if they could do that on shosh it would be awesome

I think David as Fiyero looks like a Geek. And Shoshana in that picture from the scene of her writing...i think she looks sort of Nerdy. Even though she is SUPPOSED to...Idina doesnt make ELphaba look nerdy...she makes her look pretty! I just dont like Shoshana in Green. And that Boq....his hat...ew.

I agree, Shoshana makes Elphaba look a little more innocent and childish. Idina made Elphaba look like a loner and kind of a geek but in a thoughtful, brooding way where as Shosh makes Elphie seem like more of the high school bookworm. I actually think they both work fine but I'm really not liking the new Boq.

Now that I look back on the pictures, the green on Idina does look a bit more see-through and more natural, but on Shoshana it looks kind of like they put pastels on her face... And the color looks different too. I know they used to use purple to accent the green on Idina and it doesn't seem like they do that to Shoshana. Maybe it just takes some getting used to.

in this picture the green looks a bit better than some of the on stage shots....on a side note they've removed the shot of idina greenifying from the backstage gallery as well as the overhead shot of joey macintire during dancing through life

Yes, I don't like Sosh so much in the green. Idina actually looked beautiful in the green, I think lol...maybe that is a little wierd, but i think it has to do with a number of reasons. One being, Idina's make-up looked more real, sosh's looks like make-up, kinda like it is halloween or something, it just looks unnatural. Two, being that maybe it is just because we have a certain vision of what Elphaba should look like, because Idina has been in the role for such a long time it will take some getting used to lol. Sorry for the rambling, this entire paragraph doesn't make sense, but my excuse is I am tired, so goodnight!

I agree that Shosh doesnt wear the green as well as Idina did. I don't know if it was the way they put it on her or if it was just something aboud Idina but the green looked really natural and it looked like her skin. I think it might be because there were differnet shades of green on her to imitate the pigments of real skin and it wasnt so opaque but on Sosh it looks like they slathered one color all over her face with wax paint. It just doesnt look as believable though it doesnt really make her look bad.

I think Shosh's makeup looks different in all of the pictures. The green looks stunning in the picture of her reading the Grimorie. Also, it seems like the quality of the new photos, as someone else mentioned, is not as good as the previous casts pictures. The colors may not be as true, and a different camera may have been used-these are always factors. Their skin tones may also have something to do with it. I think Idina's more of a neutral to cool skin tone, while Shosh has a warmer yellower tone, which makes the makeup look that sickly green color. I'm sure the makeup is applied the same, I doubt they would change much, but like I said the same colors work differently on different skins. In Saycons case (sp?) theyre probably going to have to change the makeup entirely. The texture of the MAC chroma cake is that of a Watercolor, it covers a light surface well, but a dark surface will just make a very dark almost forgesty green if it shows up very green at all. perhaps they will put a sheer coat of white under the green for saycon (perhaps with shoshana too) which should in theory create a nicer tone
