When the announcement popped up for me this morning my first thought was “Oh, Noll will be a lovely Maria” and then I opened it and saw she was Mother Abbess and I thought “Duh that does make more sense and also I feel very old right now”.
This quote is very interesting to me. It sounds like O’Brien implies this will be a revised version of the script based on abandoned original concepts from the 50s? Which hopefully will improve the show (it’s never been a strong book). This script was not used for the prior O’Brien tour, right?
“A few years ago, I was part of a group of collaborative artists who, almost inadvertently, stumbled on original conceptions for the stage mounting of The Sound of Music that had never found their way into production," O'Brien said in an earlier statement. "We felt as if we were awakening Sleeping Beauty herself, and the results exposed a version of this classic virtually unknown before, and yet more dramatic, more detailed, more rapturous, and more touching than any we had experienced. It is with extreme enthusiasm and a keen sense of anticipation those same artists once more return to complete the work we began, and give this most beloved of all musicals the creative facelift it deserves. We truly believe the original authors would be thrilled. And we believe you will be, too!”

That was my thought too. People always complain about the Phantom tour and how it's so scaled down, so many bad changes. I'm hoping these will be good.
Kevin Earley needs to get new headshots, lmao. He looks just old enough to play Rolf in that photo. Nick was the Captain in the closing cast of the last equity tour(also directed by O’Brien). So, it’s interesting to see him back as Max.

this excites me. what I love about the 98 revival with Rebecca Luker, they meshed the original stage with the film changes and created its own unique version.
