The hell with Mama Rose...I think she'd make an excellent Electra!
Tears fill my eyes at the thought of seeing those twinkling bra lights shining through her frail translucent zombie skin.
ahhh....tingly.

Edna in Hairspray or Effie in Dreamgirls.
But in all seriousness, I'd like to see her as Berthe in Pippin.

Eeend all thyat jyazz!
Anyone see Ryan Stiles' imitation of her on Whose Line Is It Anyway? They did the game "Scenes From A Hat" and there was a whole category - "famous movie roles as played by Carol Channing." The best had to be "I'm Shpartacyus!"

Little known fact:
Bootylicious by Destiny's Child is actually a cover of a Carol Channing song of the same name. It was recorded in the early 60's and was featured in the CBS Special:
I Don't Think You're Ready for This Jelly
~An Evening with Carol Channing
So actually the name Carol Channing has been synonimous with Sex appeal for decades :)

Posted: 8/18/04 at 8:37pmCArol would love all this! When I did Dolly with her...We did a skit at the Easter Bonnet competition and it was "What roles Carol could do after Hello, Dolly!"...We had Carol as Norma Desmond, Eponine, Rizzo, Victor/Victoria, the Phantom, It was funny as hell. She loved every minute of it....I think the funniest was her as Rizzo....I got to do her as Rizzo....I came out in a pink ladies jacket and sang...There are worst things I could do! Huge laugh...loved it!

Posted: 8/18/04 at 10:18pmI think Carol's appeal stems from her broadway debut in 1776 - the year, not the musical.

Anyone else wanna jump on the "Save Caroline" bandwagon by requesting Channing as a replacement for an ever-sick Tonya?
I hear Channing is wonderful at playing a mean southern black woman with deity issues.
