It's been greyscale since the beginning of the run. Surprisingly, it doesn't look terrible this way, but I almost wish they had done something creative with newspaper print instead of just using that shouting Newsie.

According to the playbill vault website it has always been black and white. They usually have a color playbill shown if there was one and then the black and white one is pictured with the month and year that it switched.

I stand corrected. I just figured they'd start with a color Playbill.
