It's almost definitely something to do with the UK rights considering there was meant to be a youth group production of it at this years Edinburgh Fringe and it got cancelled last minute due to issues with the rights.

I guess they figured it would not find an audience in the British department.

There were not enough producers or financial interest to mount a production of the show.
