Hello,
I am thinking about doing the lottery for either Next to Normal or Rock of Ages. I wanted to get some opinions as to which one would be easier to obtain and possibly on which night. Also does anyone have any idea where the seats are and how many are drawn for each show? Thanks for your help.

N2N is a much better show, though their lotto is harder to win because there are fewer seats and it's more popular.
The N2N lotto seats are in the front row (the first 14) and the boxes (the last 12).
The ROA lotto seats are partial view on the sides of the orchestra.

Posted: 4/18/10 at 12:30amReally for Next To Normal it depends on when you go. I mean, your not going to have as many people there for a Monday night performance as you would for let's say a show taking place on Saturday night.

Posted: 4/18/10 at 12:52amI thought they changed the lotto seats to the rear mezz for Rock of Ages? Or is that the rush?

Posted: 4/18/10 at 1:14amNo, It's the lotto. They recently moved them from side orchestra partial view to Mezz partial view. However, I don't know exactly where in the rear mezz.

A friend attempted the N2N lotto twice a week or two ago. On a Tuesday night, there were about 50 people there and on the Sunday (I think the evening show?) there were so few people there that everyone won. Weird that there were less people on the weekend, but yeah... it's hard to predict.
And when I was there during Alice's vacation on a Sunday matinee, I'd say there were about 50 people there again and they offered the $40 lotto loser seats. They're partial view, but my friend and I moved to the fifth row mezz as there were a lot of empty seats, empty rows even, up there. Amazing view!
Good luck!

Posted: 4/18/10 at 1:37pmI recommend Next to Normal over Rock of ages, rock of ages is really disorganized, I was surprised they were nominated for Best Musical. Next to normal won the Pulitzer its really good.

I've been to the ROA lottery- it wasn't disorganized at all.
I love this show- GOOD LUCK.

both shows are great. save your lottery money and go to both. the rock of ages seats are in the mezz now...since they've added plasma screens at stage level. now those on the sides in the orchestra can see what's going on when sight-lines get wonky...
the rock of ages lottery is nothing if not professional and organized. show up 2 hours before the show. put your name in. wait 30 minutes. get lucky. pay your $26.50 in cash. simple as that.
good choices. both rock.

Posted: 4/19/10 at 12:15amMy friends and I all won ROA yesterday afternoon. All four of our names were called but we only took the first two sets of tickets. We got there around 12:25 to put our names in and then our seats were Mezz rows A and B (seats 19-21 in A and 21 in B) - great seats, we only missed a few small things. Everyone ended up getting tickets. When I won lotto back in January my seat was in row E of the orchestra (partial view also) and I definitely saw more from the mezz than I did in the orchestra. I also had my first legal drink at the show yesterday, too!
