re: Nine Casting

I would love a HUGE set of cameos. Posh Spice, anyone? My choices:

Guido-Javier Bendem
Liliane-Cate Blanchett or Vanessa Williams
Carla-Keira Knightly or Emily Blunt
Claudia-Catahrine Zeta-Jones or Anne Hathaway
Lusia-Marion Cottilard or Toni Collette

re: Nine Casting

WOAH! BIG NEWS!

Per Playbill, Zeta-Jones is no longer associated with the film.

re: Nine Casting

Wow, that's crazy. I wonder who will take her place? It's basically safe to assume it will be another name, but anyone have any idea of who?

re: Nine Casting

Jen Garner. Zeta Jones is the wrong vocal style for the role anyway.

re: Nine Casting

Jennifer Garner would make an excellent Claudia, and she can actually sing.

re: Nine Casting

Yes, but I NEED to see Catherin Zeta-Jones is a movie musical again. She would have been an inspired Luisa.

re: Nine Casting

Yes she would have, but she got cast as Claudia, then decided the role was too small for her. Reminds me of when Whitney Houston was tapped to play Deena Jones in DREAMGIRLS and her condition to play the role was that she got to sing Effie's big songs. *eye roll*
Jones' films after CHICAGO have been pretty atrocious, I was looking forward to seeing her in a movie musical but oh well. If the reports are correct, she could make a fabulous Momma Rose.
I'm still not convinced Cruz should play Carla. I say give Claudia to Penelope Cruz and get Jennifer Garner to play Carla.

re: Nine Casting

After the reviews she's received today for ENCHANTED, Amy Adams is going to be on every film maker's radar. She apparently auditioned for Marshal for Cladia, but I think she'd be an inspired Carla. She's a brilliant comedic actress.

And I agree with Ray (and I've said it 800 times already but why not again) Cruz should be Claudia.

re: Nine Casting

Yes, she would make an inspired Mamma Rose. Some day, maybe it will happen.

re: Nine Casting

I love Amy Adams as much as or more than most, but she;s not sriking enough for the role. I still say Jennifer Garner. Or Anika Noni Rose. That would would be hot. But they'll want a name--so Jen. Get your agent on this ASAP.

re: Nine Casting

Amy Adams has a nice, girl-next-door persona that I believes makes her inappropriate for Claudia or Carla. The reason I think she will make a great Sister James in DOUBT is the exact reason I don't see her working as either character. Having said that, she is a fantastic actress so she may surprise me.
I wish I knew what actresses were auditioned for the film. It's pretty fascinating that so many actresses in Hollywood want to be part of movie musicals. I remember back in the day of SWEENEY TODD initial casting, it seemed that every A-lister of a certain age was auditioned. Same is happening now.
