Posted: 6/16/08 at 3:38amI definately remember an extended run of them ending with Jesse L. Martin singing Razzle Dazzle in honor of Jerry Orbach a couple years ago. And I'm pretty sure there was one last year too.

Did they do a Year in Review segment for musicals?
Or did they feel it unnecessary since every show that opened this year (that is still running at least) performed?

Posted: 6/16/08 at 11:32amI was going to say they probably did it during the pre-show. At least it was done, even if it was shoved out of the broadcast so old shows could do something. I'm not overly impressed with that decision...let old shows do numbers and we'll take over half the awards off the telecast. And the In Memory segment. Not the greates idea IMHO.

Posted: 6/16/08 at 12:40pmI totally agree jordangirl. I was pretty underwhelmed with all the performances from old shows and shows that were not nominated. It seems like they were focusing a lot on just trying to get people to come see a Broadway show, which isn't a bad thing, but I feel like people who watch the Tony Awards are probably mostly people who already come to see Broadway shows, or would if they had the money or live closer to NYC, and I think those are the kind of people who would have preferred to see Alex Lacamoire (who's hair bobbing up and down in the pit at ITH is a new form of entertainment all its own) give his acceptance speech.
