Can anyone tell me why they changed it. I mean it is really cool but doesn't here silhouette already appear later in the song at the end? I looks more magical now, but I just caught it....Do you like the new opening?
Broadway was the only production to have the hat. When London opened they implimented all the changes and made the productions all carbon copies.
Does Broadway still hate the hat?
i don't understand why they got rid of the hate either
Nope, Elphaba doesn't get lowered under the stage when she melts anymore. That was Idina's only stipulation on doing the London production.
I guess the accident had an a real impact on her, but that's understandable

I would think Kerry Ellis would be pretty wary of it as well.
"STOP! Stop!"
"Elphie!"
I just listened to the Kerry Ellis indecent the other day....I did she get anything broken from when the lift closed on her
I also liked the hat! But, this was changed like a year ago. What made you ask now?
E.Davis -- she didn't break anything as the lift never closed on her. The reason for her screams is that the lift started rising and she wasn't in place and ready to go up. Her screams were of panic, not of pain. She was screaming for them to stop the lift from continuing to go up or else she could have suffered a bad fall.
Brody- Thank you very much for the Clarification
Yankee- I have not seen the show live only bootleg and I just noticed it.

Well, what happened was the lift did close but not on her. When walking into the lift she hit the safety button with her side sending the go ahead cue when in fact she wasn't secure. It started to rise and she yelled "Stop! Stop!"
They stopped... the whole show.
20 minutes later after checking Kerry out the show continued and Kerry sang the flying portion on the ground.

As scary as that is, the performance that she gave 20 minutes later was probably one of her best performances. I think she was singing with so much chutzpah (yes my jew side...) right after the accident to make up for the lack of gravity being defied...
Yeah that was the best ". . look to the Western sky!" I've heard since Kristy Cates.
-Jacob.
she sounds amazing after they come back after the 20 min break!
wow! she sounded sickly amazing!
no pun intended wit the word "impact" ?

I find it absolutely disgusting how people laughed!
Don't you think it's possible that people didn't know what was going on? Even from the audio it isn't completely clear at first.

Kerry yelling "STOP! STOP! Let me down!" It's not very Elphaba-like it doesn't take a genius to figure out something was wrong, also keep in mind she must have been waving her arms or something.
If you've never seen the show (and yes, I'm sure there are some people still out there!!) you would have no idea what is supposed to happen.
And unless you're sitting in the front orchestra, you might not have seen anything.
I'm just sayin' is all.
Exactly Shpants. If you haven't seen the show, you would assume her yelling stop is part of the show. The area US isn't lit with the exception of Elphaba's face/upper body. You wouldn't know something was wrong for a minute or two.

Wishing, I think laughing is a knee-jerk reaction when something goes wrong at a show. I think I would have laughed, as I probably wouldn't have known how serious it was (not very much so, come to think of it)
