If a show is not being put on by roundabout but is in one of the theaters owned by them how long can that show stay in the theater. For example "An Act of God" was not put on by Roundabout and only had a limited run. But lets say the show had an open run would it be able to stay in that theater?

Beautiful is in a Roundabout theatre, and still has an open-ended run.

I don't believe Roundabout actually owns the Sondheim. Rather, they're its operators.

They can stay however long their agreement with Roundabout allows them to stay. As owners/operators Roundabout can put a definite end-date on a production's lease if they want/need the space for one of their own shows. If Roundabout has something already on their calendar and are leasing the space out to another production in the interim then that will be discussed and agreed upon beforehand. They are certainly not going to sign an agreement with a production that is open-ended if they already have plans for the space on an upcoming date.

I doubt Roundabout would rent out any of their regular theaters for anything more than what they did with Act Of God. They have a large subscriber base and need to put on a certain amount and variety of shows every year for those subscribers, especially in the 2 Broadway houses.

The Stephen Sondheim was a fairly new addition for them and I guess not really integrated into their subscription plans yet, so they could afford to give it to Beautiful for an open ended run. Although I doubt they anticipated Beautiful would hog the theater for so long with no signs of leaving. But they probably make pretty good money from the rent.

Does roundabout recieve the rent for the Stephen Sondheim? I bet Bank of America, who owns the theatre, pays roundabout to operate it, but I don't think they get the money directly.
