I read that Norbert Leo Butz is out of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" because his doctor placed him on "vocal silence." Does anyone know how long he might be out?

fwiw, I read elsewhere that he'd had food poisoning. Third hand info, take it for what it is. Hope he's better soon, regardless.

Well if nothing else I hope and I'm sure he hopes he can come back before John leaves. But hope he gets better.

I think he was in for the matinee show on Wednesday, but out for the evening show.

He wasn't at the matinee - I'm not a stalker or anything, I went by to purchase tickets after work (at 3ish) and the understudy board was up for that day's matinee.
Now what would you say if today I started over?

Norbert did get food poisoning from soup...but he's now fine from that. He has been placed on vocal silence from his doctor...most likely due to his 8 performances a week AND his rehearsals with Jonathan Pryce..also, his understudy, Joe Cassidy, pulled a muscle in his calf, so Jason Gillman has been doing the role..and a nasty cold has been going around as well!

I heard 3rd hand that he has been caught having a affair with one of the chorus girls and that he has been avoiding the theater as to not run into the girls husband. ( But isn't that what happened during Wicked? )

Well not sure what the rest is for and how long as Greg Jbara doesn't know who long he is going to be out, as he kindly answered me in my email. Hoperfully, it will not be too long. I bet come hell or high water he will be there for John's last.

Here's to Norbert's speedy recovery. And I'm not saying that because I'm flying to NY specifically to see him in the show on Jan 20...really, I'm not. 
I am already sad about missing John and Sara. I couldn't deal with missing Norbert.

I feel bad that even with my sources I cannot explain any more about this. I agree that all the rehearshing with Johnathan Pyrce probably has been a factor. If Norbert is not there though, his understudy is excellent. You won't be completely disappointed. Plus Norbert is there until July so you should have time to catch him again.

Yes, but unfortunately my Mom spent $500 plus for us all to specifically see Norbert and John together.

I'm taking my mom and sister (first time) to see the show the 15th (day before John) leaves and was really hoping to see Norbert because I missed out on him in November. If anyone has any good news that he'll be back soon, PLEASE let us know!!!!!

Omg going to see DRS was basically my only x-mas gift and i had been waiting to see NOrbert for almost a year and i listen to things he's been in alll the time. Then i got there on the 4th for the 2 o'clock show and almost died when i saw the posting. It was my first real show and i wanted to cry i was so dissapointed, even though everyone was really good and his replacement was good, i just really wanted to see norbert o well i suppose this stuff happens a lot. Greg and John were soo funny.
