So I'm seeing "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" in twelve days and I am a die hard fan of Norbert Leo Butz...I was wondering how often norbert comes out and what chances of talking and getting a picture with him are?
Norbert almost always comes out and signs...I'm sure you can say something, can't guarantee he'll stay that long to chat, he's usually tired after the show...you can certainly take pictures of him, you will most likely be told you're not allowed to take w/ him, but ask anyway, if worse comes to worse, he'll just say he's not allowed like already stated, no harm done. Enjoy the show!
Great guy...usually even comes out at matinees.
Norbert almost always comes out. Its rare if he doesnt and it that is the case, I am sure he has a good reason. If for some reason you miss him, PM me and I will get you a signed playbill. Or you can mail it to him but that takes a while given his schedule. Good luck!
When did Norbert stop taking pictures with people? Was it before or after he won the Tony? I got my picture with him a few weeks after the show opened. He was such a sweetheart.
It's not that he doesn't want to. It's Kevin the stagedoor guy. Every day he states that John and Norbert are not allowed to take pictures with people..probably because everyone wants one. This did happen before the Tony's.
The no pics situation at the Imperial seems to be related to the stage door man (the big K)
who honestly works very hard to protect John Lithgow and the cast from the onslaught of fans. The Boy from Oz drew a lot of interesting people and since Hugh was such a big star, the 'policy' went into effect. When the stage door man is not there, though, they always take pics with everyone. Just one of those things. Personally, I rather have an autograph than a pic because there are always people who delay the actors for two minutes trying to get their cameras working. I always found that a bit rude.
Oh Greg Jbara will happily take a pic with you. Just ask!
Yeah he always signs, but i'm not sure about the pictures, when i went the stagedoor man was rushing us to move.

i saw him, he's wicked nice and signs for everyone... he also was wearing the same jacket as me and recognized and pointed me out.
I can't absolutely say for sure, but at least the first time I heard about the no picture rule was the last week in June, so that was after the Tonys.
The no picture rule is said for everyone, not just John and Norbert.
I would imagine though if the stage door is very crowded, you probably won't be able to get a picture. But if it's not that crowded, it's definitely worth it to ask...nothing to lose.
It was pretty crowded when I saw the show at the end of March. I can't say for sure, but I believe there was a guy at the door. I managed to get Norbert for a picture as he was walking toward his town car..still on the sidewalk but away from the door. I felt kind of hesitant to ask but he said of course and put his arm around me for the picture. Great picture!!
Since when did Norbert have a town car? You sure that wasn't John's?
Oh and if you don't mind, I'd love to post that pic on the address below.

And how are you privy to that info BsoBW2? Are you sleeping with the cast AGAIN? (stop that! they need to work)
Just quietly go up to Norbert and slip him a $20 Bill. The "Freddy" in him will MAKE him take the picture with you - He just took you for $20. Priceless!
A 20 and a good root vegetable...
I got a picture with him on Nov. 18th. But it came out blurry and he wouldn't let us redo it.
I got a picture back in October...the stage door wasn't very crowded though. I could tell he was in a bit of a hurry, but he was nice enough to take one anyways.
I'm just saying it again in defense for Norbert it is NOT a rule that he started about no pictures, it is the Imperial's and in this case, Kevin's. That's all I have to say. *bows*
I was thinking, If I sent Norbert a twenty dollar bill, would he autograph it for me? I mean, it IS a tie-in with his character!
Give it a shot. I'd love to see what happens.

I went on Nov. 18. He was out very quickly (the time it took me to get from my seat, buy a poster, and to the stage door). He was very nice and signed my L5Y thing and took a picture. He was in kind of a hurry because he had to catch a train or something. But there was no one there that said we couldn't take pictures with him.

My sleeping with the cast has nothign to do with it!
I've seen it with my very own two eyes.
I demand proof BsoBW2! (and yes that was a pun)
