Damn, Hell has better waiters than purgatory.
on a related topic JERRY Lewis is taking over a Mister in Color Purple. Now what have you got to say about THAT?
...can't wait.

OK you guys don't know who will be in it until Disney officially releases that information, so don't go around saying "this person will be Ariel", or "this person will be Ursula", etc etc. YOU DON'T KNOW. that's why this thread has the word "rumors" in it. just be patient and wait until they announce it, don't tell people what you believe or have "heard" because none of it is true until Disney releases that info.
TIRADE!

I will be extremely disappointed if Ursula is not cast as a purple woman.
I don't believe that we should be taking jobs away from the purple people and giving them to the whites and blacks.
BSoBW2,
I agree. And by giving Sebastian to someone OTHER than a 7 foot dancing crab... I mean, good GOD, WHERE IS THE JUSTICE?!?! Crabs are people too!
I heard several lobsters auditioned. They were hoping the casting directors wouldn't know the difference.

and just when it couldn't get more absurd...
It's fine as long as we get a real bird who sounds like Buddy Hackett to play Scuttle. As we all know, the only current working bird is Big Bird, and that's very unfair.

Husky - I think you missed something.
The only SEAGULL to ever claim an Equity card is named Dmitri. After he received his equity card he began circulating the globe in productions of Anton Chekhov's THE SEAGULL.
It is extremely doubtful, sources say, he will be able to take on the role of Scuttle, as Dmitri can neither sing nor act. He can only play dead.
I think that's the sign that this production of THE LITTLE MERMAID should not happen.

I had NO idea. So there have been two working birds in Show Biz. Good for the birds!

It was much easier for the birds back when Aristophanes was writing.

Yea, and since that musical version of "The Birds" never panned out, this is about all that's left.
I just have to say that Dmitri made reading this entire thread worthwhile for me.

I hope he is cast. I am proud and happy to say that I hardly if ever notice racial inconsistencies in casting.. unless the core conflicts of the show have to with race issues.
This came up once when I saw the national tour of SHOWBOAT. Kevin Grey was cast as Gaylord Ravinal and I believe he is part asian. In a show whose main conflicts revolve around racial bigotry.. it was hard not to be "pulled out" of the story when he was on stage.
On the filp side, when I saw CAROUSEL at Lincoln Center. The Snow family was all sorts of races and I wasn't consciously aware of it till after I saw the show and looked at the program.
My ability to "character" on stage regardless of race is one of things I like about myself.

Mister Matt-You're just plain stupid!!!!!!!!! You obviously don't know me at all....Or anything about biracial families...which exist all over the country...there are families who have a black parent and a white parent and blonde-haired/blue eyed kids....look at the Singerl twins...perfect example...That's all I'm gonna say about this...I can't educate the totally STUPID!!!!!!!

I heard that a group of one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eaters were petitioning to be considered for Ursula, over the purple people and or octipuses. Seems they're tired of playing sax in the pit.
If anyone gets that, I love you.

To get back on-topic...
Norm is not entirely right for Triton. For me, I don't care what race someone is. But going from a French policeman to ruler of Atlantica dosen't seem like an easy transition.

Norm Lewis is a (fantastic) actor.
And there isn't a whole lot of difference between policing the French underworld and the oceanic underworld.
