I'm stoked to see it now!
Ahhh, got my hopes up again. Since Signature's putting on Sweeney again this year, I jumped to the conclusion that they were bringing him back in the title role. I was a little too young for Sweeney Todd when he first played the role.
Looking at Schmerg's picture, I'd really like to see Terrence Mann take on Sweeney, perhaps Mary Testa as Mrs. Lovett?
I think that would be cool if he was a little younger, but personally, I'd love to see Terry Mann play the Judge! He'd be a perfect fit for the role.

NOOOOO why does this have to be in Texas!? I have wanted to see/hear this ever since I first found out that he played it in D.C. (I would have been too young at the time)
Arghhhh, growing up in Houston, I always hated Fort Worth/Dallas. They always got the cool stuff even though Houston is the largest city in Texas and Ft. Worth/Dallas is very boring. Texans don't call it 'Dullass' for nothing.
If this was in Houston, I'd actually have an excuse to go see it.

^ I've lived in D/FW my whole life, and while it isn't the most exciting place, I've never heard it called "Dullass"
And, I would beg to differ. This is really the first exciting thing we've had in a while. TUTS and the Alley always get really awesome names in their shows. Casa is just now doing this (thanks largely to Wally Jones). And even then, we haven't had a big name in a musical in ages, unless you count Lou Diamond Phillips.
^ That's because you live there.
And I didn't really mean to be hateful or mean, I'm just saying that Houstonians have always resented Dallas because people always think it's the biggest city in Texas and the rest of America seems to pay more attention to it. Houston's the biggest, darn it!

Holly-
Well, if Houston had a hit 80s soap opera named for it, then the rest of the world would probably know it was the biggest. I still don't get why they moved the capital.
But yea, Dallas not so great.
I am volunteering at Casa Manana and CANNOT WAIT for this! There is a full page ad in our paper of Norm in character as Sweeney and am absolutely thrilled!!!! lol. I have never heard or seen anything Sweeney... anything I should try to get my hands on before seeing the show?
EDIT: Looking at the ad again.. one: they spelled his name "Norm Louis" and two: the Sweeney they pictured almost doesn't look like him... it says photo courtesy of Carol Pratt photography... IDK. ?:|

Carol Pratt does a lot of photography for Signature Theatre (Arlington, VA) where he performed the role in 1999.
