Nudity on & off B-way

I'm kinda fed up with women complaining when they hear, read or see that a show/play contains female nudity. I hear the same comment: "where is the male nudity," or "fair is fair."
Let me just say, you all must be blind as snails (if a snail is blind). Anyway, there is perhaps too much male nudity on and off Broadway. Every other show features some gratuitous full frontal male nudity. Ask yourself, when is the last time you saw a vagina on Broadway???? The answer is NEVER. So what is all of this shunning of female nudity. As a woman I am appalled by over zealous, hypocrital women and shocked by spineless, delusional men. Broadway is about the arts, not about "evening the score." When we lambast the showing of complete full, spread eagled female nudity, we further repress our own beauty, and sexuality. Sure, male nudity is fine, but be realistic. A shirtless man doesn't have much more further to go once the pants are dropped. A woman on the other hand can get away with the tag of "nudity" with only her shirt off. So please for all of those folks on this board complaining about the lack of male nudity in a play or the socalled presence of female nudity, I say take a deeper look because you are sadly mistaken on all counts.
Puppetry of the Penis (a relegation of male sexuality and anatomy) vs. Vagina Monologues (a sad commentary and repressed, Victorian journey into the female psyche)
P.S. I saw "Judas Kiss." The female nudity was out matched by the male nudity. In fact I'd describe it as hidden and fleeting at best.

Posted: 8/8/04 at 7:46pmI never realized how true this is. Its funny because in Hollywood its the opposite. There is so much more female nudity than male nudity in the movies, while on stage there is more male nudity.

Posted: 8/8/04 at 10:05pmIt's hard to characterize any production from the not-for profit realm (Roundabout, MTC, LCT) as being "successful" or "not successful" because they're all limited engagements mounted for theatres with a subscriber base, so attendance numbers will always typically be in the 90s. Subscriber fees pre-pay for the limited run, so the show at least breaks even regardless. As long as a show plays out its entire limited engagement, I suppose it must technically be considered a "success" whether it winds up transferring for a commercial run or not. "The Women" was also aired on PBS -- and as such received a broadcast payment from PBS for that to occur -- so for that reason it can be said that it probably did better than most Roundabout shows (other than, say, CABARET which had a long successful commercial run).

What- what I posted? It wasn't a joke. Personally I think it's disgusting. I won't be seeing a show with nudity.

Ummm.... What's "disgusting" about nudity?
I don't remember if Marin Mazzie showed anything below the belt in the opening scene of Passion.

Marrin Mazzie showed full frontal when she got our of the bed and walked across the room to get her robe.
Donna Murphy did the same in Roundabout's PRIVATES ON PARADE, which featured many more male privates on parade, including Greg Jbara, Edward Hibbert, and the late John Curry.

Posted: 8/9/04 at 12:04amif this even counts, Alice in Wonderland the burlesque thing that was Off-Broadway earlier this year had every single woman in the cast at least partially naked at one point or another (with alice completely naked for most of the show), but not one single man in the show showing any sort of nudity. i have no problem with nudity , sat through puppetry of the penis when i was 14 and found it interesting. alice in wonderland, though... i found it to be the most tasteless horrible thing i've ever seen.
