Great to hear that the cast recording was recorded and that she'll record her vocals at a later date. This way we'll have an excellent recording instead of a 'Kelli was sick' scenario ala Tyne Daly's GYPSY recording.

I'm not trying to open a can of worms here but (as the article states) this is not the first time she's missed a performance. She also missed Saturday night and Sunday matinee.

How impressive is at that she's never missed a performance until now? Now meaning, so I don't get raked over the coals in a few minutes, this weekend. You would think that during "Piazza" she would have missed a show at some point. Talk about vocal fortitude. Wow.

I doubt this will affect her chances.
It's her first time missing a show! That's pretty incredible. I bet most of the other ladies who end up in the Nomination pool will have missed shows in their time on b-way. Granted, individual's histories on b-way don't deal, in any way, with their present nominations, but still.
In any event, I hope that the tony voters aren't so narrow as to use 3 missed shows are a mark against her.

Sorry. I misread. Now I understand that she has never missed a performance in any of her shows prior to South Pacific.
Mea Culpa.

I think the OP was referring to the fact that these last few days she's been out have been the first time she's ever missed performances since being on Broadway (also according to the article).

Posted: 4/15/08 at 4:33pmIs everybody sick back there? My friend told me a lot of people have been sick and a friend of his in Gypsy had to go on last week because the person he understudies was sick.

Posted: 4/15/08 at 6:53pmJust to clarify, she did take a week-long vacation from "Piazza," but this past weekend and today are her first absences that weren't planned in advance.

Sara Ramirez missed MANY Spamalot performances and won the Tony.
Besides, the Tony isn't O'Hara's to win.

Well, people say that Bernadette and Donna lost because of all the performances they missed. (and I was kidding about Kelli, by the way)
And EVERY YEAR people say "so and so has it in the bag" and there are always surprises. Everyone expected Patti to knock Rose out of the ballpark, but from what I hear, Kelli is amazing in SP. And don't forget Prince. And Patti's Tony for Sweeney, and Raoul's for Company? What happened to THOSE sure things?)
