You don't find him to be an excellent dancer?
I saw this on Halloween night - the orchestra was full but it did look like the mezz and balcony had quite a few empty seats. But as others have said, that's probably a slow night.
I absolutely loved the show. I thought the orchestra sounded great, the leads were excellent, and the dancing was mesmerizing. I had seen Tony Yazbeck in Gypsy and came away rather underwhelmed, but I thought he was great in this. I suppose if you are someone who doesn't like extended, ballet-inspired dance sequences, you might find those parts boring. I found them fantastic. I thought Yazbeck and Fairchild were great together - she was adorable in her part, too.
It did run quite long - I think we got out around 10:45 PM (that included their brief BC/EFA pitch after the curtain calls) but I actually would have sat and watched the whole thing again right then, had that been possible! And that rarely, rarely happens with me and musicals these days.
I know this is just one person's opinion but I would say that if you like classic musicals with a strong dance component you should definitely go.
Tony Yazbeck's performance was the one I walked away thinking, "he'd better get a Tony nomination!" I thought he was spectacular. His voice was gorgeous, and perfect partnering with one of the best dancers I've ever seen on Broadway.
One step closer to my wish! =D http://www.theatermania.com/new-york-city-theater/news/tony-awards-committee-eligibility-meeting_70649.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_name=13nov2014
"One step closer to my wish! =D"
The obvious, expected step, though.
No doubt. I just like seeing it in print.
You know that's just a classification, not any sort of indicator, right?
Yup. Which is why I wrote, "One step closer to getting my wish" rather than, "I got my wish!"
=)
