That can't be right. The critics loved it.
After Eight, what's happening here?

Yes, they can. They tell the public what shows to buy tickets to. They've been doing it since 1964, the year they started hating happiness and humming.
After Eight... I'm scared. Hold me.

I feel terrible about this. Yes, everyone on BWW said the theater was too big for the show, that the show would struggle to fill seats without big names in the cast. But I was hoping the reviews would save it.
Still, all is not lost. It's a perfect holiday show that should appeal to tourists. I hope it can hang in there.

Moving it to a real theater instead of the airplane hanger it is in now might help.
If not, they can always revive it again in 5 or 6 years.

1964: The Year They Started Hating Happiness and Humming
This has to be the title of something. I don't know what, but something.

After Eight's memoirs?
I know the perfect publisher.

It was a bad week for everyone - a really bad week. But KINKY BOOTS and LION KING also fell about $160,000 (which is what happened to ON THE TOWN). So one really has to look at the next few weeks grosses to get a sense of ON THE TOWN's situation.
But no, it doesn't look good when you see that happen to a new show. I am sure KINKY and LION will rebound, and I am sure ON THE TOWN's grosses will rise. The question is, by how much?

Broadway is about ticket sales and On The Town presumed that just because it is a good show with good reviews it will sell tickets. Audiences have made it clear in the past that a revival either needs a strong new concept like Pippin or a star like How to Succeed.

"it's time to face facts, the show sucks and nothing the critics can say can save this one!!!"
The only disconnect here is you are equating box office with quality. They often have nothing to do with one another. Some great shows don't find an audience.

^ This x 1000.
Any given quality is an opinion. MANY quality, well reviewed shows fail to garner an audience. Some awful shows do. It's a gamble.
So, Brian Song....why so damn gleeful that the show is doing poorly at the box office?

Posted: 11/5/14 at 11:07amWhat's perhaps most breathtaking about what's happening with OTT is that it is almost exactly what every experienced producer in town told the OTT lead producers would happen. And you will note that none of the aforementioned producers have their name above the title.

Surprisingly, it is not on TDF. No idea what they are waiting for
Doubt it will get much of a jump from its parade appearence

What's going on here? The Lord and Almighty Creator, Ben "God" Brantley, handed down His Word on this show, and His Word said, "Flock, all ye who read, to ON THE TOWN." Why aren't they flocking? Mr. Roxy? Hold me, batty boy?

Oh, sorry again growl.
Roxy can't hold you because he's too busy jerking off about last night's elections.
Is there no one who hold growl?
Won't someone think of themysterious?

Posted: 11/5/14 at 11:40amExcept for the amazing orchestra, I have seen better community theatre productions of ON THE TOWN. The critic were overly kind and the audiences are not feeling it.

They should rename the show "The Book of Norman" and they'll fill the place just out of the confusion.
"Hey look Martha, we can finally go see that show Book of Mormon everyone says is so great and it's 50% off at TKTS".
"The critic were overly kind and the audiences are not feeling it."
They should bring Gallagher in to smash watermelons at the start of act 2. Then the audience would definitely be feeling it. By the way Brian, how are your brothers, cover and sad?

What's wrong with wash women?
They work very hard.
And why the ageism? You don't have much room to talk.
