Anyone know where I could buy the 9 to 5 OBC album? I know it's OPP and I'd have to pay an arm and a leg for a brand new copy. Anyone know of any cheap places that might have it? I realize iTunes is an option, and that's one of my last resorts, but if I had to choose, I'd rather have a physical copy. Thanks in advance!

Looks like Amazon has several used copies that are "like new," you could try there!

I've been surprised at how quickly cast recordings go out of print these days. It's very sad. I'm shocked that the physical CD of "The Little Mermaid" is out of print, particularly now that the show is getting major productions (even though it's still awful).

Honestly I'm not as surprised about The Little Mermaid already being out of print in regards to physical copies. Disney is really embracing the digital aspect of media distribution and consumption so it's not much of a surprise that a CD that is in a category that historically does not see huge volumes of sales was put in the vault and only available as a download.

broadwayfreak4, your timing is terrible. Last month I had a brand new sealed copy that I bought from Fye for $1. It was part of their "great value" clearance and with the additional markdowns just cost a $1. I bought it only for the cheap price, since I already owned a copy. I gave it to a friend who opened it but probably has never played it. He might be willing to part with it. The hesitation to sell would be because of the shipping, etc hassle that goes along with it. If there is a FYE in your area, the "great value" is a yellow sticker clearance item. They were suppose to pull all product and sent it back to Corporate. You never know if they missed a piece or maybe you can still get it through them. My friend, who is a District Manager with them stated you can try, but it would be for full price. (through special order)

It's insane how expensive some of them run. HIGH SPIRITS is always upwards of 40$ on Amazon.

$40?! I didn't know High Spirits was that popular!
I recently got the physical CD of the Roundabout revival cast of NINE and suddenly I'm feeling really fortunate. Not only because it is a terrific album (THE CAST THOUGH) but because of what I'm reading on this thread.

ArtMan, dang it!!! There's an FYE a few towns away from me, but don't know the next time I could get up there to see. I guess I could call them to see if they have it?
It really is disappointing how fast some cast recordings go out of print. Sucks for those of us who prefer physical CDs.

On FYE's website, 9 to 5 is listed, as a "notify me" Which is better than stating out of print. You may want to start there. The price is quite low, for new. Amazon was showing a minimum of $30 for used and over $300 for new.

I love that album so much. Even the accents work for me.

I could never get into that revival NINE album. The OBC is just so perfect.

Ah well, to each their own! I gotta say though, that recording was kind of a game-changer for me when it came to my knowledge of the performers. I loved Mary Beth Peil in Follies, so it was a great surprise when I saw that she played Guido's Mother. And I thought Saundra Santiago had a wonderfully unique voice; it's a pity I can't really find her in anything else. Finally, I will never ever understand why they didn't even consider Antonio Banderas for the movie. Surely he's a big enough "name," and he could actually sing the role.
Sorry. This thread is turning into an analysis of the 2003 NINE cast...Lol.

Ugh don't get me started on that trashy mess of a film!
Maybe I'll give the 2003 another go, I probably have only listened to it once.

It's not that I don't like the 2003 Nine cd, it's just that it doesn't have Germans At The Spa and I am in love with the original Broadway cast. I have my original release for "highlights" from the show and the 2 disc set for the complete recording.
Now, what can I get for the CD's from Whoop Up! and Kwamina?

Back to the original topic of this thread... I bought the "like new" copy on Amazon.

A new copy was selling for over $1000. That's ridiculous.

Megan Hilty Wannabe, it stands for out of print. Thought that was a fairly common acronym?

In MHW's defense I had never heard the abbreviation.
BUT using context clues I figured it out and other people have said "out of print" so there was no reason to flip out.

All of you guys/gals have to get a clue and buy a vowel...As much as some of you love physical CDs that format is dormant if not downright dead...the majority are downloading music...that is the norm. Some are not even doing that...they are streaming from Spotify, Pandora or Apple music.
