My wife and I are trying to find Hamilton tickets we can afford, and we've spotted some "obstructed view" tickets in the first few rows (Orchestra C, D, and E, seats 16/18/20 or 17/19/21).  I see this thread https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?thread=1084868 with a little discussion of those seats, but I'd love to get more specific information.  Has anyone purchased those seats on the far left or right in the first few rows?  Can anyone tell me what we're getting for our money?  We don't have to see every last thing, but if anybody can estimate just how much we're missing- 5%, 25%, 50%- that would be fantastic.

Thank you!!

This question has come up a couple of times and I bought tickets on the side also, so I've been interested. Here's something from a previous thread that I found and reposted for someone else:

I sat in Row G on the far left aisle last week. I couldn't see people when they were on the stairway on the left side of the stage. It was only a couple of times that I couldn't see someone doing/singing something significant. There were also times when the character who was the focus of the scene was blocked by dancers, but everyone is moving around a lot so those moments were brief. Personally, it was well worth it to be that close to the stage and able to see Leslie Odom's subtle performance and the tears on Philippa Soo's face at the end. The only other way I'll ever be that close again is if I win the lotto because I can't afford premium seats. On the other hand, the far side seats don't offer a good view of the staging, lighting, and choreography, which you can see very well from rear orchestra. I suspect the best non-premium seats are front mezz, but I haven't sat there (yet).

Thank you so much- your post, and the post you quote, are extremely helpful.  I'll try to remember to post here with my own experience re those seats.  Thanks again!!!

Glad I could help! My tickets are for May 2016, so I will look to see how you like the seats. And enjoy the show!

I was in row E, last seat stage right in late July.  Had seen it twice at The Public, so had a pretty good idea of what things would look like.  MarieI9's assessment is spot on.  The subtleties during the most emotional scenes were unreal.  Totally worth the trade off of not paying scalper prices to be able to see the same things.  You won't miss much.
