re: Odd Couple sold out!

Crazy...Is a standing room policy definite yet?
So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

re: Odd Couple sold out!

I haven't heard about that yet...something to keep in mind if I get as obsessed about this show as I am about Spamalot!

Oh my. I guess there are a lot of Joe Mantello fans out there.

(That was a joke.)

re: Odd Couple sold out!

Do plays usually have SRO?

I stood for Doubt and for Julius Caesar ($21.25 each). I'm sure The Odd Couple will have standing room, but I wouldn't be surprised if they charged $40+ for each ticket...they can certainly get away with it...and I would certainly pay it!

re: Odd Couple sold out!

If they pay $40 to get an SRO ticket, anyone who pays it is mad. I stood for 700 Sundays and that was my second and last ever experience with SRO. Hateful.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

why did you hate SRO? it was fine when I did it for Julius Caesar and Doubt. I also stood for Spelling Bee, which was fine. Did you just not enjoy standing up for 2.5 hours? Honestly though...the run is sold out...so we will have no ither way of seeing the show unless we go SRO. I am willing to wait a couple of hours on Saturday morning to get tickets and so will a zillion others I'm sure.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

I'm confused -- is it limited run? Or by "sold out" does that just mean for the time Nathan and Matthew will be there?

re: Odd Couple sold out!

I don't do standing room much anymore, but I did do it for 700 SUNDAYS, and I had no qualms about it - if it's the only way I'm able to see something that's completely sold out, then that's what I'm going to do.

On the other hand, I'm not thrilled about THE ODD COUPLE to begin with - the only reason I have any interest in going is to see Mantello's direction - not to see Lane/Broderick re-create every role they've ever played. I think it's really strange that so many people rush to get tickets for it...

I don't know about their standing room policy, but they're definitely going to have one. Any theatre that has standing room built in (and it's completely sold out) will definitely sell it - they would be stupid not to. And I've never heard of standing room going for more than $26.25...I think it's pretty standard.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

what is the big deal about this??? there are so many good shows on Broadway and Off and Off Off Broadway.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

yes, there are plenty of good shows out there...but none that have both matthew and nathan in them. the run is completely sold out due to both of their names.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

Once again, the discriminatory policy of pre-selling the show to a class of people (AMEX Cardholders) prevents people from seeing this show. The bulk of its advance ($16 million of what, a $21 million advance)came from the pre-sale. I had an interest in seeing it, but couldn't get a single ticket online. I'm not THAT interested in seeing it, but I might try standing room. I assume they will also have a standby line.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

It's a well known fact that anyone with an AMEX is of a higher class. re: Odd Couple sold out!

re: Odd Couple sold out!

Weekend SRO tickets for The Producers were over 30 bucks when Nathan and Matthew were in it, I seem to recall.

I just got so uncomfortable standing up watching a show. My first SRO was on Hairspray and I swore never again for many reasons, but I did it for 700 Sundays and now I realise I don't want to see anything badly enough to stand up for it. I would rather try for returns on the day, or a few days before.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

I'm find with SRO as long as the show is good, and I have something (or someone) to lean against. I stood for Spamalot, where I could lean against a kooshy rail, and could take my shoes off. It was probably more comfortable than paying 100 bucks and sitting.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

i totally agree bobbybubby...i will get to see the same show everyone else is seeing, for significantly less money and if i run outside when it's over, i'll be first in line for autographs...we know that stage door is going to be insane every night!

re: Odd Couple sold out!

I did standing room for Spamalot for both showws on Saturday, and loved it! My ticket isn't until February, but I'll probably try for a standing room either before or after that date! Yes, there are pplenty of great shows on and off Broadway, but their chemistry will make this a fantastic show!!

I don't like SRO, and I'd rather slit my wrists than see this show. So, I guess I'll miss out.

re: Odd Couple sold out!

I don't have a problem with SRO (thats how i saw Nine and hairspray, both times) but this show is not worth my money. I might go if i got a comp, but only if I didn't have anything else to do, and someone took me to dinner.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.
