I think Daisy Egan was fired from that production of CABARET. She had definitely started rehearsals...

"Just to add to this story, Daisy Eagan is developing a reputation for backing out of shows at the last minute."
Maybe so, but I think in this case she is justified considering the financial issues (among other things) that are being reported.

Well, if Equity decided in lieu of two complaints that they wouldn't honor contracts at Ector -- Eagan would have had no choice but to pull out, unless she wanted to drop the union.
Eagan was fired from CABARRET.
Do you know why RATH? I seem to remember hearing it was for off stage behavior...
Margo - I love your idea for a show. Sounds like Georges is gonna have to Bounce....
I believe it was for attitude issues.
Daisy quit the production of Cabaret. She was not fired. She had not been treated well there, as many of the cast members would attest. They hired her without auditioning her and expected her to show up and be Liza Minnelli...while Daisy is one of the most talented performers I've ever known or worked with, she is not a Liza type-which she is well aware of.
Please everyone, be careful of what you write about people here if you don't know it to be true. I know Daisy is often lurking around here and it's just not fun to see people who don't know you bashing you or your career.
I agree Jamie, but it seems many people don't mind bashing careers here. Look at links in this whole thread-- I'd say Tony Georges has been bashed about as much as he can be, as well as Betty Buckley, for that matter.
It's a Broadway gossip board. If I were a celebrity, this is the last place I would look for loving reassurance.
If I'm wrong I apologize.
But if Daisy is lurking, and she wants to, she can certainly set the record straight for us. I'm sure she's hardly the first person to read negative and possibly untrue statements about themselves here and other places.

I wasn't bashing Daisy. I virtually live in the Gateway's backyard and was passing on the story. Many people were looking forward to seeing Daisy's performance and were terribly disappointed when she had left the production before opening night.
After reading plenty of posts and the nice round-up article on the main page, here's my question: How does someoen start directing professionally at age 14? Seriously? I don't understand how any professional in their right mind would give a middle schooler the reins to a professional production. I guess if he's really that talented, then that's the answer, but I would never be able to take a 14-year old seriously in rehearsals. And then there's the entire issue of a 20-year old directing and producing an entire summer season of huge-name Broadway star shows. I just don't understand how any of this happened. I don't understand how he managed to pretend like he had all this money, I don't understand how the respective actors thought he could possibly have all this money, I just don't understand. Margo's right, this is screaming for musicalization!

Well, he didn't actually start directing professionally at 14. He convinced the board of directors at the Permian Playhouse to let him direct a show as a summer "special" at the age of 15, and did a show a year (Oz in 01, Peter Pan in 02, Sound of Music in 03, Chicago & Secret Garden in 04) before actually going "professional" this year.
As far as the stars knowing he was 20, at least in Betty Buckley's case, she didn't know he was 20 until she came down and met him face to face.
