After over 33 years and 17,000 performances in New York City, a giant has fallen.

This has always been an easy, cheap ticket to get. I'm sure it's inexpensive to run, but still surprised it last this long.
If only Perfect Crime would shutter, too.
Ah, the hundreds of Bar Mitzvah parties it has played to...

It's sad to see the show close. It's where it all started and it's where you were closest to the performers. Despite the space constraints it still was a fun show to see. Last time I went in December it was shockingly empty though, so no real surprise.
Where there is a surprise is with all the additional spaces the show had - studios and warehouses and training facilities. I wonder if Cirque closed all that down as well.
From what I gathered, Cirque is opening a new BMG show up in Orlando and I suspect they'll do training and development either there at the new place, or move all that to Vegas, since the Cirque infrastructure is pretty established there already.

I've heard rumblings that there was some backstage drama between BLUE MAN and Cirque that led to the closing. Has anyone heard any gossip?
