re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

^haha

They didn't really change the song. They added a little 10 second thing. No big deal.

No, new episodes won't be on the site. They will have the clips that are on there now.

So the premiere is on right now. Anyone else watching? It's adorable already.

THIS IS FANTASTIC! It's almost over though.

I'm posting a review on the off-topic board.

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

This is what I typed on the thread on the off topic board (which is where it really should be).

That was so, so, very cute!!!

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

The songs are so catchy.

Didn't someone say that Sutton Foster was making a guest appearance? I didn't see her; I just saw Natalie.

What a fun thing to wake up to! Very cute, and always fun to see John singing re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

how is it off topic...its a musical tv show starring broadway people and written by big musical theatre people...its exposing broadway to young people. Just because it is written with little children in mind does not mean it is only for little children. Many parents watch tv with their children as well as siblings. Besides why the need to be so rude? It is not your job to decide what is off topic nor do you have to look at this if you do not want to or find it stupid. And do not call people names when they were innocently trying to talk about something that interests them and plenty of other people.

Great interview! Thanks for the link. Some great lines:

"TVGuide.com: I just want you to know that I had to fight for this interview with Raven, the other mom and theater addict in the office."

Ha!

"TVGuide.com: Between this and Beauty and the Beast, you are going to get mobbed by kids. The Wiggles have got nothing on you.
Tartaglia: There you go. [Laughs] I'd be honored!"

Aww! And he's so great with them re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread Most likely more personable than the Wiggles.

A CD would be great! It'd be awesome to have like a half-Sprites/kid, half-Broadway CD.

I didn't realize he was specifically Ernie. I could see that being perfect.

And the whole part about the episodes to look forward to sounds great, especially watching him look like an idiot for half an hour re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

But what he said about the shows from our old days...I guess specifically with the Christmas episode, but generally, I can see that. Children shows were soo great when I was growing up...Eureeka's Castle, Fred Penner's Place, Under the Umbrella Tree, Welcome to Pooh Corner, Dumbo's Circus, Adventures in Wonderland, etc. Lots of puppets and music in those shows. It's still hard to be totally objective as to if it's like that those shows since I'm an adult now, but there are similarities. And I certainly loved the Christmas episodes of those shows. Nothing beats A Muppet Family Christmas! And hehe, Sutton as John's sister.

I told my cousin he should make sure my 3-year old cousin watches it tomorrow at 10am. He'll likely forget. Oh well.

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

Yeah, Angel and Raven did a compromise - Angel got to interview JTags and Raven gets to recap Grease. Angel got the better deal, I think. Sorry, I'm kind of a TV Guide geek. :)
I FREAKING LOVED EUREKA'S CASTLE! I seem to remember it had an awesome christmas special, too.

On the west coast, J&tS airs at 7am. Good thing I have TiVo...

I haven't read the OT thread yet, but this seems applicable here on the main board: I loved the contributions by Mark Hollman and Pasek & Paul.

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

Hehe, I think Angel got the better deal as well.

Hmm, Christmas special...I'm already bringing this thread off topic bad me, but I'm not sure if Eureeka's Castle had a Christmas special...but I do remember one primetime special called "What's in the box?" This...guy came to Eureeka's castle with this box that like when you turned it, weird/bad things happened...Magellan shrunk and Quags and Bogs turned into a peanut butter sandwich, until Eureeka realized the box was on reverse, and then everything was fixed. I was like 2 when this was aired--how do I remember it?

But for the most part, kids' Christmas specials are always fun! I'm very excited for the upcoming episodes.

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

I want a Root stuffed animal. Now. That thing is just way too cute.

I'm just happy no one walked into the lounge this morning. Haha- I'm in a dorm and I don't have a TV in my room. So I went to the lounge to watch the Disney channel. I'm just that cool, y'know?

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

So this morning my mom got me up at 9:59--an improvement! I saw the whole new theme song and also the preview on the Disney channel, which was awesome to see. I loved that the main thing they're saying is how much music/songs there are. I mean, it's true so yay.

I agree Root is adorable. I could have sworn one of the 5-minute shorts was about the same disease thing, I think Basil had it (it's really sad that I know that, isn't it?)

Cool to see Natalie. I know some of the puppeteers have difficulty with complex Broadway songs so it's cool that John and Natalie will be able to sing some of those together.

And John in the fruit outfit--wow. That's just...wow. Quite amusing.

My mom watched some of it with me. She thought it was really cute and thinks kids will love it. She agreed that it reminded her of the shows I loved to watch. Let's hope she's right!

re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

Amanda, that 'disease' thing Root had was called The Dadoots. And no, that's not what Basil had in one of the shorts. I remember Basil being sick and sneezing a lot. Johnny and Ginger had to make him laugh in order to get better. re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread

Oh yeah. Thanks Traci!

You certainly know those shorts well...just how many times did you watch them? re: Official Johnny and the Sprites thread
