Oh yeah! Sutton is next week! Ginger and Basil are my favorite sprites I can't believe I just said that. I think show is pulling in an equal amount of teenagers and adults and kids. Updated On: 1/14/07 at 06:58 PM
Just wanted to say that Johnny also plays Sage! Before the show even came on and I watched the little "Ask Sage a question" thing on then site I was like "....I think that's Johnny....or maybe it's not...no I think it is!...or not..." haha. I was thrilled to find out it was!
I'm board so I thought I'd clarify some things:
Lilly - Is the long haird blue sprite who's a yoga type character. Also, she is played by Carmen Osbahr who is Rosita on Sesame Street. http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Carmen_Osbahr
Root - The red one who is the baby Sprite. I'm not sure who he is played by just yet.
Basil - The green one with the glasses. Played by Tim Lagasse
Sage - The eldest Sprite. Of course, played by Johnny!

broadwaystar2b - Thanks. I found that out about an hour ago! :)
I love Root! He's my favorite Sprite!

"By the way... why did we never figure out what colour he painted the picnic table? He started painting it red, sat on wet paint, then asked Lily what colour he should paint it. Then in today's episodes... it was colourless.
The mystery... "
The mystery goes on. If you go back and watch it, Johhny is painting the table orange and then he sits right now it. Why would someone sit on wet paint??

From the clip that this site had up, I found it to be a cute, charming show for the kids. What more, it sounded like real musicians were playing the songs, not a MIDI file!
Johnny as himself and Sage always crack me up, along with some of the fuzzies and of course Root!
I really REALLY dislike (I'm not going to use hate) Lilly. For several reasons really, her puppeteer is NOT one of my favorites, I don't really like the character, and a couple of other reasons.
The first part today was good but the second part was great! Especially the song "Ask" performed by Sage (Johnny) and Basil (Tim Lagasse).

I really like the second part of the episode this morning. Watching Johhny's reactions to Basil's jokes was funny. I also liked Johnny thinking that Carl (the fuzzy) was the phone. Very cute! Can't wait to see next weeks episode.
any idea why only 2 episodes are on i-tunes? where are the new ones?

I would imagine if you understood Morse Code, a tap dancer would drive you crazy
I hope next Sunday WILL be a rerun! I missed the Sutton episode.
Aww, I saw it a couple minutes late this morning...I saw salad go on his head and the dough get stuck to his head, but didn't see any pasta on the ceiling.
I personally don't love Lily either.
I thought the sneezing was pretty convincing.
And it's pretty cute to see Johnny most of the show and then see Sage and realize John's doing his voice and singing his song...aww!
This was the first episode I caught in my dorm. Set my alarm for 9:53, threw on pants, hoped no one would see me hop outta bed, and hoped no one would be in the lounge, and was okay on both accounts. Whew. Though the security guard came in for a bit and I figured he must have been amused that I was watching Sprites...ah well.
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli
They've only filmed 15 episodes (well, 30 if you count the second parts.). They can't put out two a week! That's why it doesn't come on during the week like other Disney Channell shows.
But it's okay! I didn't get to record "Root's Dadoots" last time! haha. And for those who don't have DVR or Tivo, they get to see it again.

Some pages back, there was a post labeling us "losers" for watching a kid's show, and even though it's forgotten and nobody cares now, I thought I'd share this story (a bit long, but worth a read)...
Back in the late '70s, there was a high school student who loved Sesame Street. He used to record it every day so he could watch it when he got home. His parents were worried, his school counselor told him to stop, but he wouldn't. when The Muppet Show debuted, he watched it religiously, and began making his own puppets. He became so well known for this that he was given the nickname "Kermit", a name so connected with him it was on the front of his yearbook.
Just after he graduated high school, he learned that The Muppet Show, now in its third season, was hiring a new performer, and despite having almost no puppeteering experience besides some local TV, he knew he had to audition.
The audition was run by Jim Henson himself, and Henson was so impressed with the young man's spirit, humor, and improvisation that he was hired almost on the spot. Since then, he has performed in every major Henson production, from Fraggle Rock to Labyrinth. He has created such beloved characters as Rizzo the Rat, Lips, Bean Bunny, and Wembley, and eventually was hand-picked by Jim Henson to understudy Kermit. However, before Henson could tell him about this decision, he got sick, and then died. Our friend then found himself with the daunting task of taking over some of the world's most beloved characters. He performed admirably, however, and to this day is one of only two people who has ever played Kermit the Frog. And all that from being a "loser" who watched "kids shows".
I love watching Johnny and the Sprites with my BF (but don't tell him I told you all that). I thought the most recent episode with the collander and dr. basil was the best one yet. I wasn't as impressed with the launch episode as I have been with the ones that followed it. My favorite character is Bay Leaf, Peppercorn err I mean Basil :)
I love the back and forth with Sage, some dry stuff in there that kids might not catch but I love it. Oh and the spritisms are great too. Such a good show, takes me back to my Fraggle Rock childhood. Thanks for the thread and sorry you had to fight off the trolls to keep it here.
Steve Whitmire is fantastic! I didn't know that about him.
I still love Sesame Street, Faggle Rock, The Muppet Show, and all of the others! Now, the newer Sesame Street sucks...but from it's premire - the late 80s it was fantastic!!!
