A website of his lists himself as ensemble for Follies in D.C. Anyway, it is still my thought that it was him.
I was thinking it would be great to have the swings do that on nights they did not have to cover. They could still get paid, learn everyone's roles and be fresh and ready to hop in as needed. You might have one less model in the shadows one night, or one male missing from the one revealing promenade when they have to cover but so what.

I also observed that neither of the two males ending the promenade smiled, so as not to draw attention to themselves, unlike the females.
And while there was some camouflage in the bust area, it was not much. And there was nothing revealing there, unlike the costumes of the women, as, obviously, there was nothing to be revealed.
So far I haven't seen any pics of the graceful costumed fellows in any promotional pics or video from the show.
I rather like a show with mysteries to discover...
I was thinking about this thread when I saw the show on Thursday night, but I didn't notice anything giving away the gender of the showgirls. Which are the costumes being referred to?
The Chorus boys in "Loveland" are a little to prominent if you get my drift.

wtf? That would draw MORE attention to themselves.

You start off reading nom's posts in this thread and you feel you need to take a shower, then a scalding shower, then you eventually you eventually realize you'd still feel gross and dirty even after diving into a swimming pool filled with Purell.

I saw Follies from the front row and I guarantee they were all female.
What is this, La Cage aux Follies?!
Don't forget to tip your waitresses.

The two "males" that nomdeplume is referring to are Ashley Yeater and Suzanne Hylenski. Both female.

Ha!
Perhaps the costumed line-up now is all female, but it wasn't when I saw it.
The two guys looked great in the costumes, so even if the old "Follies" girls were all women, I don't see that the show today needs only women for the show girl part of the cast. They were very discreet about the males being in the shadows during the show.
If you're getting all women in the line-up now, too bad, you missed it. Something subtle and unexpected to discover in a show is always fun.
Nom, they make "videos" you might enjoy. They are in the "Special Interests" section of your local video store with a "back room".

No parallel to stage costumes and fashion.
I wonder whether Follies will take the Tony for best costumes. Does it have any rivals?

There are no men playing ghosts or showgirls in Follies.

Yes, dear. I'm sure they just did it to mess with your mind.

Perhaps men are sent out to perform only at performances that nomedeplume attends. I know that things like this happen because Charlotte d'Amboise has spies in the lobby of every theater she performs in and they notify her whenever I'm seen walking into a theater. Her understudy is immediately dispatched to replace her.
As a result, I have NEVER seen Ms D'Amboise perform.
nomedeplume has my sympathies.
"The two "males" that nomdeplume is referring to are Ashley Yeater and Suzanne Hylenski. Both female."
Oh, don't let that fool you for a moment Broadwayfan.
First of all, Ashley can be a man's name.
And Suzanne Hylenski, as everyone should have guessed, is an anagram for Hans Zylenunski, who last appeared as Dream Curly at the MUNY.
Ashley Yeater is very much a woman, thank you very much.

And a very beautiful one, at that.
I can't decide what is more repugnant in this thread: nomdelplume's homophobia, nondeplume's trans-phobia, nomdeplume's anti-Asian racism or nomdeplume's misogyny.

Thank you, joey. I'm still trying to figure why it would matter even if they DID fill out the female chorus at times by adding men in drag. I assume even nom knows it's all a show, regardless of gender.
I worked on a production of SHOW BOAT once where due to cast limitations, the director (Donald Driver) staged "Ol' Man River" behind a scrim so that the silhouetted while males in the cast could play black males lifting bales for that one number. I know blackface (or its equivalent) is rightfully a sensitive issue, but in this case the white male chorus filled out the black male chorus briefly, tastefully and, I thought, brilliantly. (Of course the principals were cast by color and Joe did not sing the song from behind the scrim.)
Dollypop, Karen Olivo has blacklisted me. I will never see her perform. She doesn't go on if I show up. She sends a man out instead.

It's a conspiracy, Bettyboy--and it's becoming all too common.

Let's see.
You show up four months after I see the show and announce that the actors playing showgirls at the end of the lineup are now women.
That proves nothing about what happened four months ago.
Go poll the cast members who would know the score of four months ago, and see what they say. If they will tell you, haha.
(Gaveston2, they played it so subtle and chic, with just a bit of joie de vivre, and the costumes, some of the most amazing work, sheer and bejeweled, it was a live theatre moment. The women were fine but the males had an extra layer of acting which made them special; they were enjoying the masquerade. Sorry you can't see that if they're gone now.)
I just asked.
None of the showgirls or female ghosts were ever played by men, either at the Kennedy Center or at the Marquis.

I have to say, if they DID cast men as a couple of the ghosts, it would have made for some EXCELLENT press opportunities.
Or, nomdeplume, you could be... um, wrong? Considering you are literally the only person I have seen to believe this?
