Can't fool me with those chunky legs and male torsos.
But the audience seemed clueless, which made me laugh out loud.
How you pulled it off in those gorgeous costumes!
Well done, marvelous missies!
what else would you expect in a musical on Broadway????

Yep, Follies has it all.

[SPOILER]
Hahaha.
I was up in the mezz, too.
When they do the little promenade of the "girls" coming forward to show their incredible costumes off, the last two are not.

Sounds like steam escaping
Really??? or are you pulling my leg? (or just being judgemental)

SondheimFan5, you didn't notice?
Given the size of some of the headpieces, it would make sense to have them on the stronger males.
Have the boys here all lost their gaydar again?
I highly doubt two of those showgirls are males.
In nomdeplume's mind they are.

Given that they are all lurking around upstairs in the shadows most of the time, I would not be.

I think I pay more attention to male torsos than you do-ha!
I'm rather fond of the shape of the male torso, particularly a lithe, youthful one.
That's nice.

This thread is just silly.
Let's talk about the theater. Not silly gay stuff.
I'm gay and this thread is just stupid.

It gives a little nuance of meaning to this cryptic statement about Follies by its designer to the Wall Street Journal:
"It's like sacred ground," said the current show's costume designer, Gregg Barnes, as he walked around backstage on Thursday. "And some of the choices that we landed on fly in the face of the original."

Gregg looks like he's having a ball.

I didn't realize this was some big secret. Not to me it wasn't anyway.

And the first giveaway was I was looking at an Asian male torso, a Southeast Asian male torso, to be specific. I've seen so much Southeast Asian art and so many Asian people it was a dead giveaway to me.
The Asian, especially Indian and Southeast Asian, male torso (look at all the Buddha statues and art and Hindu dieties and dancer art) is smooth on the surface and wears its musculature and strength below the surface, unlike the more muscle-bulging Caucasian forms as in Greek and Roman art. I've seen enough representations of Buddhas to know that form anywhere--haha. And the Southeast Asian men are often more diminutive in size and more elegant and graceful in form than the bigger burlier Caucasians. Often, but not always, of course.
The first male I would say was probably Mathew deGuzman, whom I'd imagine is Filipino. The second male, I am guessing more, it is perhaps Amos Wolf, less sure on that one. The second is considerably taller than the first, and appeared Caucasian.
I really was wishing they wouldn't hide the gorgeous costumes in the shadows so much. I'd still like to see them more.

deGuzman is a swing. Unless he was covering a role, he was not on the stage.
