I thought it really set a new bar on Broadway in a lot of categories and was EXCELLENT all around. A really fun night at the theatre. Why do so many of you not care for it? (Besides mentioning Mel and being greedy)

Because it sucks?
I consider it to be an abomination.

For me I am perturbed (dont you love that word?)that the producers dont report the grosses. But I'm still interested in seeing it.

0-2 so far. Those aren't reasons. The show was so impressive in so many ways.
I'm with you. I had a hell of a lot of fun at this show. My only problem with it was that they cut one of my favorite exchanges from the film: "Igor you take the bags.", "Ok, you take the blonde, I'll take the brunette."
Saying the show was "so impressive in so many ways" isn't a reason either. :P
george, why does it matter to you if they post the grosses. It's their show, they can report them if they want.
I thought the book, lyrics, and music were all terrible, the acting hammy and/or boring, and the sets overblown.

George....I said besides mentioning Mel and greed....grosses are in that category....bad reason!
Frogs, the quote actually is "You take the blonde, I'll take the one in the turban." :)

I already wrote about all the great things about the show in my honeymoon review.
The sets
The music (I loved it personally)
The choregraphy
All fantastic.

BAD THINGS
- The show was boring
- Not really funny
- Too much of a carbon copy of the film
- The score was a bore
- The choreography was uninteresting
- The direction was uninteresting
- The acting was alright (with two exceptions)
- The producers (the people, not the show) suck
- Didn't live up to the hype
Good Things
- The Set
- The two featured actors
Where did you get 0 for 2? You are the only one who has liked it!

I think it only further lowers the bar on audience's expectations of what is good.

The sold out theatre loved it when I saw it!
If I paid those kind of prices, I'd convince myself I loved it too.

Every show on Broadway are the same prices!!!! Forget premium tickets here. They arent bought as much as you think. Updated On: 1/19/08 at 09:48 PM
Amen, morosco. A two hour and forty-five minute overblown spectacle with cheap humor, crappy songs, and boring choreography (bits of which appeared in The Producers).
And yes, it was boring.

So the audience was filled with only people from this board? Uh huh.
And no, every show on Broadway does not charge $450 for "premium" tickets.

It was BORING.

I edited that once I realized that it came out wrong. The point is, MANY premium tickets were released that day and it still sold out...so all the people that loved it did not pay premium prices.

"Ok, you take the blonde, I'll take the brunette."
actually, the line is "you take the blonde and i'll take the one in the turban!"
mel has made many comments on how he adores the way marty feldman says "toyw-bin."
The turban line in the movie, at least the way Feldman does it, is a homage to Groucho Marx.

So, all ten of you?
Mel Brooks is the reason this show is underrated. The press has decided to hate the show, and the theatre community has it out for the show too. I blame Brooks and his big mouth.
Too bad, his score is really great.

I also blame Mel Brooks...for writing this show.

If the show was actually good the press wouldn't hate the show. Many members of the press bashed the idea of The Producers and you saw how that ended up.
