Posted: 6/19/06 at 9:41pmThis is one of my favorite movies. And the reason I resented Sutton Foster when the stage play first came out. I'm an originals snob. I still like the movie better than the show, but I appreciate the show for what it is (and I now ADORE Sutton Foster).

Posted: 6/19/06 at 9:42pmI recently watched it! It is hilarious, positively and negatively. Carol Channing is crazy. And The Mrs. Meers and everyone! So funny in good and bad ways!

Posted: 6/19/06 at 9:45pmI became highly interested in the film after being captivated by Sutton's dazzling performance in the fantastic Broadway show. It is much sillier than the show, but is more of a successful spoof of that era.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 9:49pmI think its funny how the chinese are so stereotyped in the movie. As if every Chinese man during that time had a beard and a long braid!

Posted: 6/19/06 at 9:51pmI LOVE this movie, it is one that I grew up on and I wish more people knew about. A really wonderful, hilarious, satiric film that showcases Julie Andrews, Carol Channing, and Mary Tyler Moore brilliantly. In seeing the stage show, I was almost glad that it was soooo different from the film because I think that actually allowed me to like it a lot more and get over the fact that they were staging one of my favorite movies ever and without Julie Andrews. Mary Poppins on the other hand...yikes...

Posted: 6/19/06 at 9:59pmTMM was a gigantic hit film. The biggest in Universal's long history, at the time. Everybody went to see it, it seemed.

I think I pissed myself the first time I saw it, during the airplain scene, when Carol just pops up and yells "RASBERRIES!"...
Too much for words...

Probably because it's so unPC with all the stereotypes and such.
Funny story: I'm one of the very few people who hadn't seen Psycho before their 20th birthday. I just saw it . . . oh, last month, I guess. But, as I was watching, the girl's boytoy caught my ears because his voice sounded familier. It wasn't until he and the girl's sister actually went out to the hotel that I realized it was Trevor Graydon himself.
Probably not funny to you, but I thought it ironic that I recognized an actor from a not-so-well-known movie in an-indcredibly-well-known movie and not the other way around.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 10:14pmWell, TSOM and MP, were beyond blockbusters. You have to go all the way back to GONE WITH THE WIND, to find a film that was as popular as TSOM, and MP was Disney's biggest film in the studio's history. But, Millie was enormous, just not as enormous as those two. And, it's a silly film, as planned, and they just don't endure in the same way.

Posted: 6/19/06 at 10:16pmI loved TMM the movie, I recently caught it for the first time on cable and I adored it. How cute was Mary Tyler Moore as Miss Dorothy and them having to tap dance to get the elevetor to work, and of course Julie Andrews was sheerly brillant.

WORDS TO LIVE BY:
As we stumble along on life's funny journey. As we stumble along into the blue. We look here and we look there, seeking answers anywhere. Never sure of where to turn or what to do.
Still we bumble our way through life's crazy labyrinth. Barely knowing left from right nor right from wrong. And the best that we can do is hope a blue bird, will sing his song as we stumble along.

Posted: 6/20/06 at 10:32amI definitely agree I love the film TMM. I also have to second that "RASPBERRIES!!!!" is a divine moment in the film. I wish they would have kept that. With modern stage technology it would have been easy to fly Sheryl Lee Ralph over the audience screaming "Raspberries, honey!" Actually, my first thought was why wasn't Carol cast as Muzzie in the show. That would be absosultely divine. Also, I adore the "Jazz Baby" number. I wish they had kept that. It really defined Muzzie as a dizzy, lovable jazz lady and not quite as regal as she was portrayed in the musical.

Millie: I never read Tom Sawyer. Was he... sexy?
Trevor Greydon: He was only twelve!
Millie: So? If ya got it, ya got it.
