Once/Island..Lea Salonga’s performance schedule

Has anyone seen announcements regarding LS’s performance schedule or know if it is customary for principle performers to work the matinee after opening night?
The only day I would be able to see the show is Dec 6..which there is only a matinee. Opening night is Dec 5 so Im not sure if the leads will be performing.

It's customary for everyone in the show to perform every show, short of illness, injury, or planned absences.

She does have a scheduled absence to see her daughter who is in Matilda the Musical in Manila, but that might not be till the following week.

That production ends Dec 10th so I'd imagine Lea would leave a few days after opening. That would be one quick trip to Manila and back!

like Ben Platt, Lin Manuel, whomever is Christine in Phantom or Frankie Vallie in Jersey Boys.

No, and none are currently listed on the Telecharge site. But that would not happen during previews anyway, only after opening.

Therefore not "MANY ". With very few exceptions, it's the size/demands of the role that purcan alternate in place, not because they are a known entity.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

That's not many, and Evan Hansen didn't start out having an alternate. There were a few Frankies who didn't use alternates, including the first time JLY came back to the role, and in the current off-Broadway production, there isn't one.

(Elphaba and Elder Price, for example, don't have alternates, and some might expect them to.)
