Once On This Island Tour

Touring casts are usually completely different casts than the ones on Broadway, but a few people sometimes join. I doubt this will happen with this show, if it does actually tour...

It says here itll tour. But lets hope its an equity tour!

Exactly. So many shows announce a tour prematurely, and sometimes it just doesn't happen.

Networks and Troika are the two companies that produce the majority of the non-union tours of Broadway shows. I've seen some of their shows that were wonderful and some that were ... questionable. Worth noting that the Ahmanson is a union house so the plan, at least, was for this to be on an AEA contract. But I'm very skeptical that this tour will happen at all.

Okay... let's address the Equity versus non-Equity comments above. Let's unpack.

Re:Troika and NETworks. Troika and NETworks are two PRODUCERS of tours, both Equity AND non-Equity tours, and are favorite targets of posters on these boards trying to lambaste the non-Equity touring circuit, who neglect other major companies such as Phoenix, Big League, and Worklight. An actor's union status is not necessarily indicative of their skill.

In regards to the Ahmanson being a Union house, that refers to *crew members and musicians*... and both NETworks and Troika readily employ unionized crew members and musicians, even on non-Union tours. That information is readily available by referencing a program for any particular tour, the IATSE yellow card listings, etc.

Center Theatre Group is a LORT theater but they have their own agreement, which is very similar to LORT A. Lincoln Center, Roundabout, The Signature and a few others also have individual agreements. For self-produced shows they fall under the LORT agreements, for touring shows they fall under the production contract whether full or SET.

I hear the staging will be similar to the way it looked on the TONY Awards with seating onstage and (hopefully) sand,

Your AEA assertations are absolutely correct for in house produced works. Touring productions booked into the space are a different matter as far as actors go. The reason crew falls into a different category is that lovals are hired for individual stops."

I don't remember the non-equity NETworks Beauty and the Beast playing the Ahmanson... I thought it only played the Pantages...

This productoon has nothing to do with the Broadway Production. Lower Ossington theatre has the habit of cheaply restaging shows with broadway staging and choreography but listing new directors and choreographers. They are misleading and present cheap rip offs while trying to pass it off as their own.

They also market their shows as if they’re of a Broadway or Mirvish caliber, only for patrons to show up to a 99 seat black box. Shady. (To be fair they also use the Randolph which is bigger than their own space, and more downtown.... but never of the same scale as a tour). Do they even pay their actors?
