ok, now that a lot of people have been posting, I'm confused. what...exactly are we looking for? some songs that people are posted, like myself, are of questionable content (not necessarily quality). like, I posted "The Factory Girls" because I love it, but I don't know if people really expect it. or want to admit that they jam to it.
someone else posted the title song of "Sunset Boulevard" because it's of questionable quality (imo). sometimes we don't want to admit that we love flawed shows. (I also love Sunset, but more for the Patti and for the lulz)
but some of these other songs just baffle me. are we saying "I love these songs even though they're not from shows I'd consider my favorite"? or...something else? because otherwise I'm confused as to why you wouldn't love some of these songs.
and I hope my rambling made sense.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I agree givesmevoice, I'm kind of confused as to what we are listing.
With that said, I love "I Know It's Today" from Shrek, I wish I could find an mp3 of it so I could put it on my iPod.

Well, I posted "Someday" because I always tell people that I hate WEDDING SINGER. I'm just not an '80s person, and I don't like the music that much.
But, I love "Someday." Like a lot. It's kind of sad and girly.

*Agrees 100% with the lovely Shannon Bo Dannon*
Pointless information: My brother and sister and I always do a Christmas show for our family every year. "I Know It's Today" was everyone's favourite of all of the numbers we did. (And my teenage baritenor brother made a lovely teenaged Fiona.)

Haha Schmergy that's so cute!
Something about that song is just so endearing. The first time I heard it I thought it was a sad song, since she waited all that time thinking each day she would be rescued but then just being disappointed..for 8,423 days (I think that's number they're using for the show). I just found that heartbreaking.

I guess what I meant when I posted this is that I'm pretty much into modern musicals, so if I were to name one of my top three songs some of my closest friends wouldn't even expect me to say
"Can't Help Lovin Dat Man." so you can interpret this in any way you want-- but it should be a song somewhat out of character for YOU or considered to be unpopular or sappy or whatever.

I'm a fan of the more modern musicals....so it is a bit out of character for me to love "Jubilation T. Cornpone" from Li'l Abner
and "Big D" from The Most Happy Fella as much as I do.

AH! I LOVE Sweet Smell of Success. The whole score is an overlooked gem in my opinion.
Great stuff.

I totally misinterpreted the question. I listed songs that most people wouldn't expect to be a favorite song from a show... Like, from ALNM most people wouldn't list Now/Later/Soon as their favorite song..... Most would expect it to be Send In The Clowns, or something along those lines. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, haha. But I love the shows the songs I picked are from, and both shows are shows people would expect me to love.
